Very impressive, when you step into the restaurant you immediately realize why it’s loved by everybody. We were welcomed by the general manager I believe her name is Angel, very professional and clearly knows restaurants. We were welcomed also by our waiter who ended up helping us with the order and showed up how to enjoy our meal. The dim sum very very good. We also ordered the baby back ribs. The prices are very very reasonable and the atmospheres elegant. We loved it we just loved it.

Went there specially from Austin but couldn’t get the reservation at the last moment. But still tried to get the to-go order and really enjoyed the food outside. Spicy Chicken wontons were amazing. Chilli noodles were good as well

Got to go to the soft opening of Din Tai Fung at the Irvine Spectrum. Even though it was a soft opening they were offering the full menu. The service was on point and the managers were walking around checking on everyone and actively soliciting feedback good and bad. The good was amazing like always and I happy to have a location closer to me.

Atmosphere was great, servers were really nice, food was good but expensive for what you get. The fried noodles tasted a bit underwhelming too

Finally, Din Tai Fung has finished construction and is now in its soft opening!

First of all, I have to say how beautiful it is inside. The interior is absolutely elegant and luxurious, but at the same time very cozy. It somehow feels warm and welcoming while still looking expensive and refined. There’s a large reception area at the entrance, and they’ve also placed two long sofas where you can sit while waiting for your table.

I also loved the big panoramic window where you can watch cooking from outside. It’s such a tiny detail and makes the whole experience even more special.

As for the food, we loved almost everything we tried!
I honestly don’t remember their drinks being this good before. The green tea with citrus juice and boba was such a surprise. This is actually the first restaurant where I’ve had really tasty boba added to a drink!

When you order, they give your group a sheet of paper and a pen with the full menu listed, and you simply mark how many of each item you want. It’s very convenient.

You absolutely have to try the funny little wood ear mushrooms (you’ll see them in my review). They have this unexpected squeaky texture when you chew them! And they’re not spicy at all.

The soup dumplings are amazing thanks to the rich broth inside. I would say the crab and pork dumplings were the best item we tried.

I always order fried rice with chicken, and here it’s not greasy and very flavorful.

In the specialties section, you’ll see the pot stickers. They weren’t our favorite because there was quite a lot of zucchini (or something similar) inside, which slightly overpowered the pork flavor.

For dessert, the steamed chocolate buns are definitely worth trying. They’re filled with warm, liquid chocolate.

I also want to mention the restroom design. They have individual unisex rooms, which is so convenient. Each room includes a toilet, a urinal, and a sink.

I definitely recommend visiting this place. Right now, it’s operating by reservation during the soft opening, but I have no doubt it will continue to be very popular. There’s something for everyone here: not just dumplings, but also noodles, rice, soups, and a wide variety of drinks.

Had a wonderful girls night out with my friends at DTF’s new location in Irvine Spectrum. The ambiance was upscale, and food was perfect (as always). The new location is decorated beautifully and servers were all very attentive and welcoming. I’m glad they take reservations here and no walk ins.
So far this is my favorite location in OC and will go back soon.

We had the pleasure of visiting Din Tai Fung’s new Irvine Spectrum location during their soft opening, and I’m thrilled to say it exceeded all expectations. As longtime DTF fans who’ve dined at multiple locations including Taipei, this might just be the most beautiful one yet. The centerpiece tree in the middle of the restaurant creates such an elegant, inviting atmosphere.

Our server Richard was absolutely exceptional – attentive, enthusiastic, and incredibly knowledgeable. He patiently answered all our questions about ingredients and possible modifications with such grace and professionalism. It’s clear the team here is well-trained and genuinely cares about the guest experience.

As for the food, everything was outstanding. The pork xiao long bao were perfectly crafted as always, the pork fried rice had great wok flavor, and the garlic green beans were cooked just right. The spicy shrimp & pork wontons had the perfect kick, and we couldn’t resist trying the chocolate mochi XLB for dessert – what a delightful way to end the meal! Every dish hit the mark.

Even the details impressed us. The restrooms were spotless and surprisingly spacious (though the door mechanism might puzzle you at first!). What really amazed us was how smoothly everything ran despite being a soft opening – we honestly didn’t notice a single hiccup.
The best part? This location is noticeably closer to us than South Coast Plaza, which means we’ll definitely be becoming regulars. Can’t wait for our next visit!

Servers are nice but the kitchen is slow. it took so long for anything to come out. Food is pretty mid other than the spicy wontons. Can’t believe they are not doing the shanghainese rice cake anymore :0

We ate at DTF Irvine Spectrum soft opening, Feb 17, 2026, Chinese New Year. We ordered Soy Noodle Salad, Sweet Sour Pork Back Ribs, Shrimp & Pork Shan Mai, String Beans with Garlic, Shrimp & Pork Potstickers, Braised Beef Noodle Soup. We waited and waited for Crab & Xiao Long Bao. The waitress came around and asked us whether we got the Shrimp & Pork Shao Mai. Apparently, she did not know, and was getting ready to give us our check. She apologized and reordered the Crab & Pork Xiao Long Bao. There should be a system, like South Coast Plaza DTF where the waiter /waitress, check off items when brought to table so they know what other items we ordered or missing, and don’t have to wait and wait. Other than that, food was good.

One of the most frustrating take-out experiences I’ve had. The online ordering system wasn’t working, so I had to order in person. I received a pickup text, but when I arrived, the food still wasn’t ready, leaving me waiting another 10 minutes.

During that time, our server, Kaya, gave no direction on how pickup worked, whether we’d get another text or if she would call our name. We sat there watching other orders go out, unsure if we’d been forgotten or if we were supposed to keep checking.

When our order was finally ready, she was holding it but continued chatting with coworkers instead of handing it over, even though we were clearly waiting. When she did give it to us, it was just a red envelope with no explanation and no apology for the extra wait.

Poor communication and lack of urgency turned what should have been a quick pickup into a frustrating experience.
