DiMaio’s Mustard Seed is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel so welcome. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely kind (which is huge when you’re dining with kids!). The atmosphere and food felt incredibly authentic… honestly like we were transported straight to Italy.
The menu has a huge variety, and as someone who appreciates great vegetarian options, I was so impressed. There were plenty of choices for main dishes and shareable plates. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. There’s something for everyone, so it’s perfect for groups with different preferences. I tried their grape pizza as well. My friend insisted I try it (something I wouldn’t normally like bc i generally don’t like sweet with savory) and it was delicious!
We took our 3 littles and it was completely kid-friendly without sacrificing the quality of the dining experience, which is a rare combination. Every dish we tried was outstanding, with that homemade, authentic Italian flavor you hope for but don’t always find. Their eggplant and pasta dishes are just as amazing as their pizzas and their home made house salad dressing might be my favorite ever.
So cool to see them preparing the food and throwing the pizza dough as we dined as well.
Highly recommend if you want incredible Italian food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

This is a fabulous Italian restaurant, with delicious, made to order authentic Italian food, service is amazing, the whole staff is hustling and working very hard during our visit there. Went on Father’s Day for lunch, they accommodated us, table for two, without a reservation, however, I would suggest going on a weekend or a special occasion a reservation would be a better idea. Are waitress, olivia, couldn’t be more helpful and friendly. Are food came out in a very timely manner, portions were very generous. Taste beyond outstanding. I had the chicken parm, ricotta stuffed eggplant and Caesar salad. My husband enjoyed mozzarella sticks, Caesar salad, and stuff founder. As we were leaving there were guests in line out the door waiting to get in, it’s really that good and worth the wait. Highly recommend and definitely going back!

Just right off of a busy E Market Street, DiMaios Mustard Seed Cafe is a family-owned/operated business where the next generation has taken over from their father.
My partner, his aunt, our friend and I had ordered the previous evening for takeout and decided on a repeat performance the next day. Outdoor seating was available with portable heaters on those cool evenings. For some of us as first-timers to dine in on a busy Saturday night, the wait was about 25 minutes, and we got the next available table right by the kitchen, where magic happens.
We decided on the Calamari Marinara, Caesar Salad, Lasagna, Small Garden Salad, and Sunburst Salad. The food was delicious, made fresh, and cooked to perfection. Fried calamari paired with their homemade marinara sauce, which can be purchased, had great flavor and was not chewy. The portions were generous, and the price didn’t break one’s wallet. Our server, Jess, was friendly and accommodating.
I had the opportunity to speak with Jack DiMaio, sitting at the next table. Hailing from Sicily, the patriarch has brought his mother’s tried and true recipes.
As we were about to leave, the chef/one of the sons, Jack thanked us for dining. Even though it was only a couple of hours, it was time well spent, just like being in Jersey, which we can recommend.

Great food and really friendly, personable service. We were there on a Friday night, so it was crazy busy, but our server hustled, so we didn’t have to wait unnecessarily long for anything. I asked the waiter for a recommendation, and the special he recommended turned out to be one of the best dishes I have ever tasted! If it’s on the menu, try the stuffed eggplant!
