Highly recommend for a group outing.
Saturday around 11 AM. Parking can be challenging since there is ranch 99 and other restaurants. We were able to sit right away.
Things I personally liked:
Salt & pepper tofu
Salt and pepper fish
Tripe-good sized portion
Rolled shrimp noodle
Rolled Chinese donut
Xo noodles
Service was good. Plates cleared fast. Some staff doesn’t speak much English but will call over someone else to help.
To begin with, the location itself is chaotic. The parking lot has no sense of order or etiquette. Vehicles are left haphazardly, and the area becomes crowded and difficult to navigate. This already sets an unpleasant tone before even entering the restaurant.
Unfortunately, the service inside was worse. The servers were dismissive and, at times, outright rude. When I asked for water, one server would not even look at me, instead holding his hand up for me to pass the cup while continuing a conversation with a coworker. When the check was brought to me, I handed it back to the same server, only to be told, “No, give it to her,” as though I were expected to go out of my way to locate another staff member while he stood there.
I have been eating at this restaurant since I was five years old. I am now 28, and it is genuinely sad to see how far the level of service has declined. What once felt like a five star experience now feels closer to a two.
The final issue was particularly uncomfortable. Despite the poor service, I still intended to leave a cash tip after paying. I did not tip on the device, which prompted a server with glasses to return to our table three or four times asking for cash, even after I clearly told him the first time that I would leave a tip. On the final visit, he directly asked again, creating an awkward and inappropriate situation. I asked whether tipping was a requirement or an obligation. At that point, I chose not to leave anything, because being repeatedly asked for money crosses a line.
Tipping should reflect service and should never be solicited. Longtime customers deserve respect, and this experience fell far short of that standard.
I started my meal with the shrimp dumplings, which were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. I also tried the pork siu mai, which was tender and juicy. The steamed pork buns were soft and fluffy, and the chicken feet and spareribs in black bean sauce were flavorful and satisfying.
I’m a big fan of Jiaozi dumplings and was not disappointed with the ones at Dim Sum King. They were perfectly cooked and had a delicious filling. The Cheong fun was also delicious, and the turnip cake was a unique and flavorful dish I’ll try over and over again.
The service at Dim Sum King was excellent. The staff was always attentive and helpful and happy to make recommendations. The prices were also reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food.
I had a fantastic time at Dim Sum King. The food was delicious, the service was great, and the atmosphere was low-key. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great dim sum experience.
They give you a menu that you mark your order on with a pen. The server will come around to collect the paper, and then they’d deliver it one by one. Service was efficient. Workers were attentive.
Ordered Har gow (4pcs), chencun noodle with XO sauce, tender greens, & chive dumplings (3pcs), and fried shrimp balls (3pcs). We were pleased with every dish. My favorite was the noodles and the fried shrimp balls. The portions were fair. Our order was just enough to satisfy our appetites. is $1.50/each person, with refill of hot water.
Bathroom was decent, but small. Atmosis lively & energetic. Waiting for a table didn’t take too long. Parking can be a challenge because it shares the lot with many other restaurants, and a large market. Great experience, and would definitely go back when on this side of town.
Food-wise, the flavor of everything is amazing. From the savory, crispy flavors of the spicy crab and the salted-egg lobster dishes to the sweet, mellow flavors of the tender fish dishes , my mouth was exploding with every bite. Everything is very rich, so DO be wary if you need to watch your cholesterol levels The dishes are on the expensive side but I think the flavor is worth it. That said, the serving sizes were surprisingly small for 7 people. Can’t speak for dim-sum, but the latter is on the bucket list!
Customer service was pretty underwhelming and lowkey frustrating. Getting a waiter’s attention to refill tea or inquire about our order was akin to pulling teeth. Moreover, my party had a reservation at 5:30 PM and came earlier, but despite there being many open tables, the manager refused to seat us until the reservation time ♀️ Not sure about the logic behind that decision but if I come back, it’ll be for the food and not the service!
For ambiance, this would be a good place for a nicer meal with friends or a date due to the calm, energetic ambiance. Apart from the women’s restroom (a bit under-cleaned), the restaurant has a nice aesthetic that’s simple and easy on the eyes.
