This is my very first negative Google review but it has to be done. Get your BBQ literally ANYWHERE else, even other dickies locations. I grew up eating Dickie’s and I’ve always enjoyed it. But not THIS Dickie’s.
I ordered food from here about 6 months ago and it wasn’t that good but it was tolerable. Well, I ordered a bigger order for Christmas Eve for my family of 4 as I had gotten the flu and couldn’t cook, and it was so disgusting that none of us could hardly eat most of it. I got a pound of brisket, a pound of pulled pork, 1/2 lb of chicken, fried okra, potato salad, green beans, baked beans, and potato casserole. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, had this unidentifiable underlying flavor that was not pleasant. The meat, the sides…they all had this same stale/old/dirty/??? flavor and it was… unappetizing to say the least. I am not picky when it comes to smoked or grilled meat, but I had to straight up spit out the chicken, the pork, AND the green beans. My body refused to swallow it. The brisket was so dry that some bites tasted like jerky, but I was so hungry after not eating for several days from the flu that I managed to get it down smothered in BBQ sauce. My Grami spit hers out though. Even the smell of it on the plates after the fact made me queezy because you could smell that underlying flavor. Worst $100 I’ve ever spent on food. After talking to my Grami, who’s been in the area a lot longer than me, she said that this has been the worst Dickie’s around for years now. Last time I’ll ever get food from this location. I’d rather drive to the other side of town and spend twice as much for Hutchins. Stay away.
My dog loved it, though.
I’ve eaten here plenty of times and never had an issue, but today? Total letdown. My husband always jokes that it’s the fast food of BBQ spots… well, today it didn’t even make the drive-thru grade.
The food came out looking yellow and not in a smoky, slow-cooked kind of way, but like it had been sitting in a pan of stale oven water all day. No flavor, just soggy and strange. A $30 plate straight to the trash. Definitely not the kind of saucy I signed up for.
4/3/23 Had lunch there today and the sausages were all cold. Fries were over cooked but I like it that way. A lot of people don’t. At the end of the meal I went to get some ice cream while the server was watching me. Instead of eating a cone I just wanted to put some ice cream in my cup of soda. The machine just leaked some kind of gross liquid as it wasn’t turned on. Let me repeat, the staff saw me do this and didn’t warn me. Never going back again. Well I went back to give it a try. The food was cold and the sausages tasted like sawdust. Corner extent fact is they give you 10% off if you pay with cash.
To the owner. I don’t appreciate you making stuff up regarding my personality. I posted truth.
Kids got free meal and treats.
Dino nuggets were a hit.
Staff were friendly and welcoming.
Ended our meal with free softies and complimentary key lime pie .
Update: here I am 10 months later giving this place another shot… ( this time a 2 meat plate) Big ol chunks of super dry Brisket, old, cold, discolored sausage… see pics… fryer is broken so no update on the fries and okra, but the green beans were decent and the Mac and cheese was fine. Pretty sure I won’t be back.
