Beautiful pastries, mouth-watering entrees, and exceptional customer service. This is a huge win all around, and no surprise given Chef Diane’s reputation (we actually met her while dining and she is the most kind, confident, friendly person!). We came for brunch and I’ve never felt more seen than when I ordered vegetarian egg rolls at 9:30am. We got two pastries to share, the coconut kouign amann and the mango-passionfruit-lychee croissant, and both were supremely amazing. The food here is clearly created with care, honoring Hmong roots. There is something special happening here, and I hope that many others continue to experience it as well. Thank you

We came here for brunch. The food is very shareable which was nice. We ordered Diane’s hmong sausage, thai tea french toast, sweet pork bowl, and one of the croissants. It was my first time trying hmong sausage – it was good, I haven’t tasted anything similar before. Overall, the food was good and I think it’s worth a try. I’d come back to try their dinner menu sometime. Also, just a heads up, the reservation was a bit hard to get, we had to book around 3 weeks in advance to get a time that we wanted.

went with coworkers for a lovely brunch! some of us had been there before, but most of us it was the first time

everyone enjoyed their meals and those who took pastries home really enjoyed them.

overall consensus was “great lunch, but spendy”
perhaps going for a dinner might hurt a little less financially.

we were a group of 7 so gratuity was automatically added. they didn’t have a way to have separate checks which was slightly annoying. obviously not a dealbreaker but something to be aware of.

likely will not be back for a regular meal but great for a special occasion!

Of course Diane’s Place is getting 5 stars, that is a no brainer. Upon arriving, we are met with a visual of a cozy space in early January-patio lights setting an ambiance of hygge on a cold and icy winter morning. When entering, the curtain creates a lovely barrier to keep the cold out and to have the dining room free from overflow waiting room! The staff was very welcoming, checked coats and offered friendly conversation! Our server was fabulous and attentive. The food and beverage were absolutely lovely. I had a matcha latte and Diane’s Hmong Sausage, fabulous and filling! My dad had a latte and Thai Tea French Toast, very impressive. Our server brought a scoop of ice cream with a birthday candle as we were celebrating my dad’s 70th birthday, fabulous start to a new decade.
While awaiting for the restroom, my server ushered me to the second restroom and it was like an adventure! The place feels expansive and intentional, love this. Spacious for events but you would not expect that based on the dining room vibe. A lot of intentional thought and detail went into the design and flow of the dining room, the ambiance is fabulous.
We will be back, and I cannot wait until next time!

The hype here is real. It was my spouse and I first time here for Valentine’s dinner, and we were blown away by the food, service, and atmosphere. We had reservation, was greeted and seated quickly. The place was much larger than I expected (server told me they’re expanding). We ordered drinks (apple cider and budha beer – it was smooth and balanced), 3 dishes (hmong sausage with sticky rice, pulled pork with bamboo, and beef laab salad – balanced, crunch, and easy to eat). We were starstruck when Diane brought us the beef laab salad!! It was so good, almost ordered another. We ended the night with 2 deserts, the Valentine’s special (meh…) and their cro saint ice cream (omg… so good, crunchy, warm, and sweet). We were so full. Overall, so good and would order again but will need to try their other dishes. Love the Hmong the unique touch of Hmong incorporation experience as well. Lastly, got to see Diane on the way out and she along with all guest thanked us good bye. Very happy for their success!

Diane’s Place is worth the hype. Come for the baked goods, stay for the incredible Hmong Sweet Pork Bowl or Sausage. These meat dishes were some of the tastiest I’ve had. Ordering a Thai Tea French Toast for the table is a must. The ambiance is warm and inviting. The service is top notch. Offering a full bar and plenty of street parking, Diane’s Place is really special.

I ate today at Diane’s Place, a 2025 Restaurant of the Year award from Food and Wine Magazine, New York Time’s top 50 restaurant in the country, and wanted to share my thoughts on the experience particularly as someone originally from California, where bold, vibrant flavors are a hallmark of the cuisine I grew up with.

Having lived in Minnesota for a couple of years before coming back to visit, I’ve noticed that some flavors here tend to lean milder compared to what I’m accustomed to, which shaped my perspective on the dishes at Diane’s Place.

What stood out to me were the Thai Tea French Toast, perfectly crispy French fries, and the warm, inviting ambience. These elements made the meal enjoyable and approachable.

However, the flavors of the other dishes, didn’t quite align with the punchy, balanced profiles I’m used to in similar Hmong or Asian dishes.

Instead, they felt tailored to a broader, perhaps more American palate, with a milder seasoning that might not satisfy those craving the robust intensity of traditional Hmong/Asian cuisine.

That said, I see Diane’s Place as an excellent bridge for those new to Hmong food.

It offers a gentle introduction, serving dishes that are familiar yet infused with Hmong influences, making it an ideal starting point for curious diners.

This restaurant may not be for me, but for someone who’s never tried Hmong cuisine, this restaurant provides a welcoming entryway, think of it as a stepping stone.

If you enjoy the experience, it opens the door to exploring the richer, more complex flavors at other Hmong or Asian restaurants in the area.

Diane’s Place is a great first step, and the journey into Hmong/Asian cuisine only gets more exciting from here.

Went to Diane’s for a birthday dinner and had a great time with 2 in our party. Got there too early for our reservation so started at the bar for a drink. Erin was helping us and gave us some great explanatoin of what the menu had so when we got to our table we thought we were ready to order. Told our server Caleb what we were thinking and asked him his thoughts on it. His input was fantastic and led us to change our selection a bit to avoid getting too much food.

We started with the mini scallion croissants which were the perfect texture, soft, warm and a great starter for a cold night out. We then moved to the Sour Pork Short Ribs which had a unique sour flavor with a crunchy crust. Sounds wierd for ribs but they were fantastic.

For our main course we had the Hmong Pulled Pork with sticky rice and a side of Dianes Hmong Sausage. The pork on rice had a great flavor and was filling. The sausage had a bit of spice and a crispy skin that made it a unique experience.

We had more food than we could eat so we brought home a goodie bag to have for dinner tomorrow. We turned down desert as we were too full but they brought out a scoop of Pandan Ice Cream with a candle.

A great way to end a birthday night after having such a delicious meal. Will definitely go back.

Coming from Louisiana back to visit the twin cities, my brother had made reservations for us at Diane’s Place. The menu was simple and prefect. I had craved some Hmong sausages and this place made it perfectly with sticky rice AND the Hmong hot sauce AND an egg over easy!! Delicious!!! Absolutely delicious! And you know it’s delicious when there’s already people waiting in their cars for the restaurant to open at 8am!! I love my Cajun food and boudin, but I sure do miss the Hmong sausages! Diane’s place is the place to be!!

Went for lunch. I had the Hmong sausage with sticky rice. My wife and fried noodles with chicken. We also ordered egg rolls (3/order). More food then we could eat! Nice flavors. Great wait staff, right on top of everything. We had 1 cup of tea and water, no alcohol. Bill was $78 with tax (we left 20% tip). Probably would share a noodle dish and egg rolls next time. We also bought 2 croissants to bring home, $12. Excellent overall, but a bit expensive. Definitely give it a try! Much easier to get in for lunch. Tried for 3 months to get a dinner reservation without success.
