Absolutely amazing! This is the hot new place in Southington to try! We came here a few weeks after opening and had an amazing time. They accommodated our larger size party easily! The drink menu was stringing with each cocktail being better than the last. Their Old Fashions were amazing! The food menu is on the smaller size but all the better as what they have they do amazingly well. The chicken and waffles was amazing with the egg on it, cooked perfect! And scallops…the sauce they were I were absolutely amazing. Service, especially for the first few weeks of being open, was amazing! Our server was super friendly and nice and the good and drinks came out super quick! Will be back again soon… But most likely just for drinks! While the food I had was amazing.. The price is a bit up there. Prices are not posted on the menu. $26 for two scallops.. Was way too much. The chicken and waffle was $16 which was fine and drinks generally $14-$18 each which is reasonable. Others in our party thought the food was a bit overpriced as well but drinks were decently priced. If you’re going for food and drinks prepare to spend $100/person.

Went here as an afterparty as recommended by our bartender and I will have to say that this place is exquisitely decorated with a modern twist. I did not get a chance to have food here since we went here for cocktails and drinks. I got a butterfly pea cocktail with lemon juice that changes color. In terms of presentation, for a themed bar I would expect a higher level of presentation and aesthetics for the cocktails. In order to stand out in terms of prohibition era speakeasy spots it holds its own but needs a bit more distinction. The drinks are quite pricey and I get that it is for the ambiance, but I’ve seen this theme done more cohesively at other speakeasy style bars even around Connecticut. Will need to come back during the day or for dinner service to get a full perspective.

The menu has no prices and I was shocked when I got the bill as to how outrageously expensive some of the items were. Particularly the ramen, $24 for the worst bowl of ramen Ive eaten in my life. The egg was hard boiled, very little broth with little flavor and tiny pieces of pork chopped up as if for a toddler. I don’t think any of the food I tried was good. I think they have to rethink their food menu and maybe get a different chef. The cocktails were good and our waitress was excellent.

Drinks were yummy and service was great! Food was overpriced and under-seasoned. Prices are not listed on the menu, there are little to no options if you are a vegetarian. I had a dish altered for this reason, and it lacked flavor likely because the meat was the only thing giving it flavor. I paid $24 for 12 gnocchi. Again drinks and service were great, not the best place to go for food.

Well, if you’ve never been to a speakeasy before this would be a great one to start with. That way, you can set the bar nice and low. And you’ll want to do that soon, because this place won’t last long.
“Dial 9” get’s it’s name from the idea that during the prohibition you’d have to enter a specific number into a phone, and a gentleman on the other side would answer and let you in.
They delivered on this concept effortlessly. Literally with no effort. It’s not a phone, but a pin lock you’re meant to dial 9 into, in a room full of phones. And it wasn’t even locked, so just touching the number pad, or any point of the secret door was enough to open it, so was a strong gust of wind.
While failing to meet expectations here, I will say the environment inside is definitely ambient, the tacky cheap floor tile used as a backsplash for the bar clashes with it all though.
The food bites. I arrived 3 days after Valentines day when they were still running their 5 course Valentines Special. I’m a huge lamb lover and they had an item that looked delicious on the special. It was $50/person, and you could only get this special if both people committed so $100, and if you wanted the drinks with it $160. I asked for just that menu, offered to pay $50 for it alone, the chef said no. I’m not going to talk about what’s good business and what’s bad business; I did however find it rude that he denied me to pay for 1 plate for a 5 course meal simply because I wouldn’t purchase more food off an aging specials menu I wouldn’t eat he was shuttling free samples to a buddy of his at the bar.
What really sucked though, was the overpriced lamb alternative, that comes with KETCHUP. Yuck. This tease with the lamb on the special menu vs what I had to settle for made this lamb dish all the less appetizing.
Or maybe it was the cross contamination (I suspect) with the shellfish that was served to another guest just before me, I’m allergic. I can’t tell if it was worse going down or up.
Don’t get me started on the $16 dry disgusting corn tamale the chef had no business making, or charging that price for.
The saving grace was the bartender, a round faced young gentleman who was very pleasant, and made killer drinks.
If you’re only going for drinks and don’t mind the ambiance fee, this is a great place for that.
I wouldn’t return here though unless someone else was literally paying for everything, including my Uber.
No one asked, but here’s my advice… Dial it down with the variety, focus on something more simple that you can cook well. Also I have no Idea why the back door kept opening, but it seems like people we’re going out there to maybe throw something out or to get something? The outside shouldn’t be involved in your indoor restaurant. The kitchen is in disarray and it’s evident.
I really wanted to give service 5 stars for the bartender/server I had but the chef’s antics really held me back.
By the way chef, in case no one ever told you, you look like Horst from Ratatouille, but he aged well.

With the idea of having this place being a Prohibition Lounge I was expecting a different ambiance. Walking in the furniture and decor was fine but the music was entirely too loud and it didn’t feel “Loungy” at all. I wanted to go into a relaxing environment not 75 Center. Our server was attentive and kind but when it came to drink selections they were pretty limited to what they have on menu. I asked if they could make drinks like a “Last Word” or a “Clover Club” which they did not know what they were and did not have the ingredients to make. Their drinks that were on the menu were good but with no prices on the drinks made it hard to understand what we were spending and when we received the bill we were shocked to see the prices so high. Overall the ambiance was definitely not fitting to the name, the prices were faaaar too expensive for the quality of drinks, although the server was very nice. That being said unless their menu changes, they get more ingredients to broaden their drink selections and perhaps eliminate touch tunes to allow for music to be more low key I won’t be visiting again

I would give them zero stars if I could. Had a reservation for 8 on Valentines Day for 7pm and we were told there would be a wait due to a problem with their reservation system. We still weren’t seated by 8:20 pm. We were there to see our musician friends perform so we stuck around. We spoke to a manager and asked to be comped for our drinks or at least one drink for our wait. She refused. The worst part was that there were two unoccupied tables when we left. Totally unacceptable on every level.

We did a vintage/’30s photoshoot at Dial 9 Prohibition Lounge in Southington. For starters, I had the Applewood Smoked Scallops. The scallops were cooked perfectly, juicy, plump, and delicious. The entree was the smoked duck, another great choice that held its smoked flavor.
For drinks, the cocktails are expertly crafted, the Aviator and Side Car Hustle were spot on!
The atmosphere is vintage with the front room phones, the wall treatments, and the furniture.
I highly recommend Dial 9 for a unique dining experience!
