I finally stopped this evening after returning books at the library. They’re located right across the street on the corner. You really can’t miss them with their neon lights. They not only have good I takeout food, they also have groceries, of which I appreciated being able to buy buttermilk. Tonight I had their homemade mango lassi which can easily match those in a fancy restaurant, and their butter chicken with rice. The flavor was lovely and portion was generous enough for me. Next time I’ll have the rice be separate from the main dish. I wasn’t sure if they sold a platter, as I would have enjoyed some naan. No matter…I plan to return to enjoy their other offerings.

I just stopped by today. I’m on a mission to learn how to cook Indian food (pasty white girl here).
The owner helped me pick out the right spices and I also picked up some awesome vegetable samosas!! They also have a great selection of homemade Indian food to go including an Indian Protein Bowl!!
The place is spotless! Right across from the library in Poughkeepsie!!

Ordered butter chicken and a curry and this is what we got. Spent $70. The food looked and smelt old. We didn’t bother to taste it. At least we got our money back…

Seeing that there was a decent amount of Indian restaurants, I wanted to try some before leaving town. We didn’t have much time so I thought maybe a quick pickup from a mom and pop shop might do the trick. I did myself and Poughkeepsie a disservice here.

The butter chick resembled nothing like butter chicken. The sauce broke down so the fat separated from the sauce and it was an oily mess. The biryani was more like gumbo than anything, except it had no salt at all so the dish was spicy from all the spices. The rice was all mush and the chicken was also broken down into the rice so like I said, it was more like a gumbo. The samosas at least tasted decent but that’s probably because reheating them cant change the taste and texture too much.

Maybe it was good when it first opened but it is a HEAVY PASS on this.

I dislike leaving negative comments but this place needs to own up to it. If they change it up and the food quality goes up again, then they would deserve the praise.

This review is ONLY based on the food. The market has some a limited selection. The staff seemed nice enough.

The owners seem to be very nice people. The store is kept clean and there seems to be a good variety of items. I have tried a few dishes so far and am not disappointed. The food is good and the prices are reasonable as well. I would definitely recommend trying a meal sometime.

Absolutely disgusting. I love Indian food, and this is far from Indian food. I’m pretty sure everything Is prepackaged frozen and microwaved microwaved. The nann was literally non-toasted yet rock hard we ordered butter chicken that look like it was sitting in some kind of gelatinous yellow sauce which was far from anything that could be called authentic Indian. Everything tasted watered down and like it came from packaging. And we still ended up paying $50! What a joke.

Over priced, I tried to buy a 16 pack naan… When he scanned it popped 10$ and he called few people just because he thought it is a less price, Made me stand for more than 5mins. He is about to check out he got a call and he said price is more than that… This is really insane. And it is almost double the price compared to other stores.

Delicious, flavorful and spicy with lots of vegetarian options as well. Everything I’ve had so far, samosa chaat, veg Manchurian, cheese vada pav, and chicken biryani was flavorful and definitely had some spicy heat. The owners are extremely friendly and it’s close to my home. Will definitely be back!

I tried this place for the first time today because they were having a pretty good deal on uber eats and in my 100% honest opinion it wasnt the best ive ever had unfortunately. Heres what I didnt like: the naan is 2 dollars extra i was assuming it would be more than one piece like most indian resturants give but no it was quite literally one piece of naan. I got the tikki masala and i was expecting decent sized chunks of meat but also to be disappointed again they were fairly small pieces. The sauce also lacked alot of flavor there really was none at all i could taste a little bit of spices and it had heat to it but compared to my usual spot Tanjore it was flavorless. What i did like: the meat was very soft the rice was soft and the portion sizes besides the naan were actually really reasonable for one person and the price. Overall I probably wouldnt get food here again maybe in the future to try someonething else on the menu but the lack of flavor just wasnt it. 3.5/10

Friendly owners, glad to see their store and restaurant open again! Diverse array of groceries, and good hot meals. I liked the paneer, but I liked the chicken curry even better! It’s probably been ages since there was a business (other than the gas station and laundromat) on this part of Market St.
