Longshot
My first visit to the main restaurant in a fair old while, having been frequenting their offshoot in Bedford recently when the curry craving hits. It’s larger than it was first time I visited, but still in the little strip mall off Chain Lake Drive. There are two rooms either side of the entrance, both cool, subtly lit and cozy. It was just after they opened on a summer’s Thursday morning, so I was the first customer and quickly ordered the meat thali. This comes in six segments. Two meat curries which change from time to time (today it was beef and chicken). A very nice dhal, a good portion of rice, chickpea salad and a quartered plain naan. All very tasty and overall quite a sizeable portion. I was on the ravenous side of peckish when I arrived and left thoroughly stuffed, so you definitely get your value for the $23 with tip. It’s not licensed, but has a nice line in cold drinks should you so desire. It’s no surprise this place is consistently voted No.1 curry house in Halifax, though it has a lot more competition than it did when it first opened. Thoroughly recommended.

Our table had the meatThali and Tikka Masala. The naan was the best we ever had. Everything was delicious! The owner was very nice. The atmosphere was lovely. The price was reasonable. We will definitely go there again.

The buffet on Sunday afternoon costs $17.99 and they have decent # of options. I will say this place is indocanadian more so than Indian the food is neutral spice n flavor for an Indian. It will be good selection of items for someone who wants to try few things n good quantity and not spend close to a $100 then go for the buffet.

We tried their menu items before and we were of course able to ask the spice level we want and those tasted good. Definitely more expensive than buffet.

I had a very uncomfortable experience at Dhabha Express. Back in 2018, the server was extremely rude and repeatedly told me and my friend not to eat naan with our hands. This was said multiple times and made us feel judged and disrespected, especially considering that eating naan by hand is completely normal in the cuisine being served.

The experience was so unpleasant that it genuinely put me off returning, and I’ve avoided the restaurant ever since. Even years later, it still stands out as a negative and embarrassing memory.

I’m writing this now while comfortably sitting in another restaurant that actually respects cultural ways of eating. Respect and basic courtesy go a long way, and unfortunately, that was missing here.

I’ve been here a couple of times. You wont be disappointed. Food is superb! Its infused with flavor it just overwhelms you.
We had the butter chicken, which was so good.

Didnt feel the chicken tikka masala as much

The garlic and cilantro naan was tasty!
We also had the paes gala. That was nice.

The service couldn’t have been any better. Phenomenal. Kudos to staff. 5 stars.

Price. Was a bit up there. Dishes were $15 each. Overall I paid $50 some.

Seating was really good and very clean. Delicious food. Will be back!

Location is ok, although there are free parking, but the parking is tight and crowded
Decorations and layout is ok although it can be designed better, the place is big and can fit large groups. I didn’t see the place romantic or cozy. I see it friendly environment.
Hospitality wasn’t plausible (specially the front desk lady).
Services, was good however the food took too much time before we got it . and appetizer we did not get.
Food, for me was delicious and rich, lots of rice and chicken pieces

Cleanliness, was okay acceptable, it took sometimes to clean the tables.

Prices compare to the qty of food is excellent and within expectations.

Conclusion, for my self I will come back for sure. The day we went was valentines day and to be fair with them it must be the timing went made our experience look like low.

I recently ordered the Beef Vindaloo, Dal, and Thali from Dhaba Express, and it was a mouthwatering experience. The Beef Vindaloo had the perfect balance of spicy and tangy flavors, and the meat was tender and flavorful. The Dal was a comforting and creamy complement, showcasing the mastery of Indian lentil dishes.

The Thali was a delightful way to sample a variety of dishes in one meal, offering a range of flavors and textures that left me fully satisfied. It’s clear that Dhaba Express takes great care in preparing their dishes, and the result is a truly authentic and delicious Northern Indian dining experience.

Whether you’re a fan of spicy curries or appreciate the warmth of comfort food like Dal, Dhaba Express is a fantastic choice for exploring the diverse and flavorful world of Indian cuisine in Halifax. I’ll definitely be ordering from them again!” ️

The worst Indian meal we have ever had and we have eaten at many excellent Indian restaurants. This is definitely one of them. Where do we start – the “nan” is unlike any we have ever eaten it is more like a flat bread. The curry had loads of grease and hardly any chicken. The rice is not like regular saffron rice, which is much finer. The pics speak for themselves. It was expensive for sub-standard food and we won’t be returning.
