This is a great place for a drink. The cocktails were delicious, and the creme brulee was divine. The service was also great. I love speakeasies and this is in my top 3 of all speakesies I’ve visited thus far.

Pretty fantastic for a “speakeasy” well it has the vibe of a speak easy. Eclectic atmosphere dating to 1920’s where the mixologists mix up some mean cocktails and service small plates of very well sourced ingredients resulting in a small but tasty menu.

Amazing place with a very cool vibe. Even though I stopped drinking two years ago, I can still feel comfortable and enjoy each visit. One step in the door and it will become your Bozeman go to also.

I loved it on Monday night & returned for an encore two days later in the middle of “Happy Hour”. The sign inside the entrance stated, “Please Seat Yourself”, so when I saw that the red velvet birdcage chairs I’d so admired Monday evening were empty, I sat down in one—only to be told quite loudly by a bartender that this “area” was reserved for larger parties & that I might be asked to move.

It was mortifying; I said that depending on how fast they served me, I might be spending all of 20 minutes here. (Of course, I had hoped to linger & soak up the atmosphere…)

The bartender told me my server would be Ava, & he left…I was thinking of just getting up & leaving; “customer service” is definitely a mystery to many Montana businesses, & this was no exception. It pretty much annihilated the gorgeous ambience of this establishment, which my late husband would have loved as much as I did (initially).

Ava brought a sample of the current “house punch”, a tasty concoction fit for Christmas, with brandy, eggnog, coffee liqueur, etc. So good I ordered it along with a Shrimp Cocktail, which was excellent.

When I asked about the Pretzel Bites, she described them as “chewy on the inside, with a tough exterior”, which again nearly took me aback—but I ordered them anyway because of the Beer Cheese Dip. The Beer Cheese Dip was not anything like any Beer Cheese Dip (or a chef-created Beer Cheese Pasta Sauce that I recall from.a restaurant long ago in Estes Park) I’ve ever had—it didn’t have the Beer Cheese flavor or “tang”; it tasted like plain ol’ ordinary cheddar!
The Pretzel Bites themselves were great, & the whole grain mustard was perfect.

The other odd thing about their service is that when they bring a beautiful cut glass tumbler of water, it’s tepid, with no ice. It seems out-of-place to serve a glass of water at room
temperature.

I asked Ava about the “priority seating” thing, & she said that it was company policy, & I calmly said that until it was an issue (me being asked to move, discreetly, if a “large party” appeared), that no one should say anything to me unless the probability became an actuality.

Predictably, the bartender came over a few minutes later & apologized, which was nice of him. He was sincere, but how does one rewind that loud & mortifying moment when I felt chastised for seating myself as their entry sign instructed?!

The ambience is great, & clearly, “customer service” training here needs an upgrade. I’m going to “pause & reflect” upon my two visits before recommending my friends check out this cross between a Victorian library & a bordello of a bar.

Just upstairs, Devil’s Toboggan is a modern-day speakeasy — a little hidden, but absolutely worth finding! This is truly one of Bozeman’s hidden gems. The atmosphere is incredible, with a unique vintage/gothic/Victorian vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into another era.

The drinks are crafted with care and attention to detail, and if you sit at the bar, you’ll get a little extra entertainment while they’re being made. The seating areas are cozy and inviting, though the lighting is quite dim — you might need your phone to read the menu.

But trust me, this place will not disappoint. And whatever you do, GET THE CHOCOLATE CAKE. You can thank me later!

Such a unique spot! Great drinks, a fantastic atmosphere, and the dessert was top-notch. It’s the perfect place for a nightcap or a special night out. Can’t wait to come back!

The only two times I’ve been to this bar I’ve had the worst time. Me and friend have had Ava for the past two times we came. the first time she was just extremely rude barley took our order witch I get it was a busy night but it took her 20 mins to get to us. This second time me and my friend sat at the bar. Ava was our server again gave us the sample shots which were good. But she didn’t take are order for about 20 mins she was too busy talking to her friends who were sitting at the bar at that point me and my friend were considering leaving but then she finally came and took are ordered she was extremely rude taking our order I missed pronounced a drink and she snapped back at me with the correct way to pronounce it I don’t know if it’s because me and my friend were wearing sweat pants but after 15 mins past after she took our order I can see my drink sitting at the counter and she’s just talking to her friends so unfortunately me and my friend took the decision to leave. I really enjoy the drinks here but Ava will be soul reason I will not be coming back.

The best speakeasy I’ve ever been in! I love the dark mysterious front entry door and firey lantern. It’s thrilling to slowly open the door from the dark hallway while your eyes adjust to take in the warm light of the chandeliers, swanky music, magnificent bar, and plush antique finishes. The high back red velvet chairs are gorgeous. It’s like stepping back in time and I’m here for it. The cut crystal glasses are a nice touch too. You’re greeted by the friendly bartender who will tell you to sit anywhere, then a beautiful waitress will bring over a taste of the cocktail of the day. With any luck it’ll be the bourbon peach deliciousness I’ve had, because it is aaahhhmayzing! All of the tapas are yummy, but the warm pretzel bites and nachos were probably my favorites. This speakeasy makes me want to prance around in a slinky dress and long pearls, with a long black cigarette holder & feathery boa. (giggle)

Friend told me I had to check this place out while I was in town – Great atmosphere and awesome drinks. Tall red-headed guy was my bartender, made everything quickly and was a personable dude. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back next time I’m in town!

The last two times I’ve come in, Ava has been my server and she has been incredibly rude both times. The first time, as soon as my friend sat down and placed her belongings on the table (phone, wallet, vape) Ava snapped at her that there was no vaping inside. Despite the fact that my friend did not try to use her vape and was not even holding it in her hand. Tonight, Ava was our bartender while we sat at the bar and she did not even acknowledge us more than literally throwing menus down in front of us and walking away. She did not attempt to greet us or take our order for another ten minutes, and when she did take our orders she treated us like we were stupid for misremembering the exact name of a simple drink. We then watched her take another ten minutes to make 5 drinks at once while talking to her friends sitting in front of her instead of just making each one and sending them off. Then we watched as our drinks sat there with ice melting in them still NOT delivered to us for another five minutes and we decided to just leave. She is the sole reason I will not be returning. Which is a bummer! I was looking forward to my drink but it shouldn’t take 25 minutes just to watch my drink melt from across the bar.
