Detroit Street Filling Station in Ann Arbor, MI is officially my favorite spot in the city. As a vegetarian, it can be surprisingly hard to find places that truly excel at vegetarian and vegan food—but this place absolutely delivers.

Every single thing we ordered was delicious. I highly, highly recommend the Buffalo Cauliflower Wings, Fried Tofu Fingers, and The World’s Greatest Wraps. And let’s talk about portions—they are huge. Truly some of the best bang for your buck I’ve had in Ann Arbor. The “filling” part of their name is no joke.

The flavors were spot on, the sauces were excellent, and I had so much food left over that I happily enjoyed a second round at home. On top of that, the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations that didn’t miss.

The interior was unique, clean, and welcoming, adding to the overall experience. Honestly, I have no notes or feedback for improvement. I loved every bit of this place and can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommended for vegetarians, vegans, and anyone who just loves really good food.

I’m always on the lookout for a place that has dairy free and gluten free options. This place was awesome! I loved the vibe, first of all, but the food and service was also great! They had buffalo cauliflower wings and a cauliflower soup that were both absolutely delicious! I will definitely visit again in the future!

So I’ve been to the Detroit street Filling Station probably half a dozen times over the past 4 years , but waited to do a review until now. This place is a wonderfully cheery and uplifting place to dine. No meats on the menu, but that’s not a hindrance. The food is tasty and wonderful! Within walking distance to the Ark, an added bonus if you’re going there for a concert! They also serve beer and cocktails, so no issues there. Highly recommended!

a 100% vegan diner like restaurant! options are new american based: burgers, fries, sandwiches and wraps! we got the tofu sticks, grilled cheese and the wrap! i thought the wrap was good – nothing crazy. it’s just tempeh with hella veggies lol. but i did feel very healthy! also tried the hot chocolate which was good but had a slightly spicy aftertaste. the tofu sticks were my fav! def have to go back. you also order via a qr code which makes going as a group easier

Detroit Street Filling Station is an absolute gem in Ann Arbor! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, inviting, and full of character. The historic gas station-turned-restaurant has a unique charm that blends vintage vibes with a modern, plant-based twist.

We started with the appetizer special, and it was beautifully presented and packed with flavor—every bite was fresh and creative. For the main course, we had the [insert dish if you’d like to personalize], and it was hands down one of the best vegan meals we’ve had. You can really tell they care about quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation. Even if you’re not vegan, the food here will blow you away.

Service was equally impressive. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu, offered great recommendations, and checked in just the right amount. You could tell the whole team took pride in what they were doing.

Overall, Detroit Street Filling Station offers not just a meal, but a memorable experience. Highly recommend for date nights, casual lunches, or introducing someone to how delicious plant-based food can be. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a positive experience dining at Detroit Street Filing Station, where we ordered Fried Rice (with General Tso Cauliflower) and PowerUp Bowl.
Both items were delicious and specifically the fried rice.

Would definitely recommend to Vegan / vegetarian lovers.

We had a positive experience here. The place is small, and the reception area is just a tiny table—I almost thought we entered the wrong door! They have a nice patio, and the food is flavorful. We ordered the Mac N Cheese (pictured), Tater Tots, and a Banh Mi sandwich (pictured), and everything was delicious. The service was also fast. Just a heads-up: it’s next to a farmers market, so parking can be an issue.

Detroit Street Filling Station is a peculiar and charming vegan spot with a distinct personality. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with 70s psychedelic music, lush hanging plants, and eclectic decor that feels like a cross between a retro lounge and an indoor garden.

I ordered the Power Bowl along with a local sugar-free ginger beer. The ginger beer was surprisingly excellent—so good I had to double-check it was actually sugar-free. As for the Power Bowl, it arrived warm and fragrant, packed with wok-stir-fried veggies and tofu that carried a noticeable “wok hay” aroma and flavor—something I usually only associate with traditional Chinese kitchens. Despite the Asian-style cooking method, the ingredients were distinctly Western: kale, brown rice, avocado, walnuts, and crispy tofu. It was hearty, satisfying, and absolutely delicious.

The only downside is the air circulation. The dining room tends to trap the oily kitchen smells, so it can feel a bit heavy inside—something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to that kind of atmosphere.

Still, the food, music, and character of the place more than make up for it. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into plant-based eats with a funky twist.

Food was great! Had sweet potato and chickpea tacos with I think a chipotle mayo, Chk’n fried tofu with cashew nacho cheese, and a chocolate brownie! Pic doesn’t do it justice, everything was super flavorful! I had it delivered to my hotel since I’m traveling so I can’t speak on the atmosphere.

Warm welcome and greeting by the staff. I tried the local lager beer which was good and fried rice. It was tasty but A bit too salty.

The place has indoor and outdoor seating.
