Spoke to Alex, the owner, and had a great conversation as well while waiting for the food to be done.
Definitely recommend for anyone downriver! Excited that we only live a few minutes away – this will definitely be a regular spot for us moving forward

I went in yesterday with 2 of my co workers and we all said the same thing.. the food is excellent the service is excellent and honestly the best tacos I’ve had. I also grew up in SW Detroit so I have ate at all the spots you can imagine. They gained 3 more regular customers, keep up the great work young man your killing it!!!

Can’t go wrong with ordering just about anything on the menu. Everything is homemade!
When you walk in to order, the staff greets all the customers. I felt as if I was walking into their home and treated like family. They are very accommodating as well.
Back in August 2025 Detroit Loves Tacos catered my family reunion. About 100 family members were in attendance and there were some leftovers. Food was delivered hot, and set up with with all the trimmings.
I would like to say I’ve read some reviews and if an item is sold out that would make me want to go back and order just as much. I would not order just because of one or even two items were sold out.
Alex is a young man who is very determined, hard-working, and also loves taking pride in preparing each order that he makes.
So please don’t let any negative reviews steer you wrong.
Go see for yourself.

Tried to door dash, got to the restaurant and worker said door dash wasn’t even turned on. She was the only worker though but I only have 30 minutes to take my lunch and most of my time was spent NOT getting food. Not really her fault but I won’t be going again.

Love the atmosphere they always talk to you like family or gave great music on. The food was absolutely delicious you can taste the authenticity. I had the birria tacos and it taste like the comfort food my great grandmother use to make! I recommend calling ahead so you can just go in and pay and grab you food but if you just do a walk in order you’ll still have a great time sitting in the aroma of the delicious food having a conversation with the owner himself and the amazing employees or just listening to the tastefully curated playlist of music they have going. I totally recommend coming here to enjoy a great lunch or dinner!

Took 2 hours to get my food. Was told they were out of beef. And they were running low on steak had to get chicken. The chicken was too salty and the rice was too salty. The first time I had this place it was great but tonight they were busy and they loaded everything with salt. It was a waste of money. I will not be back.
