Over the past year, I’ve visited Desi Swag on multiple occasions, and I must say the food quality has improved a lot. This review is based on my two most recent visits.

The snacks and chaat were fabulous — especially the mutton keema pav bhaji, which we absolutely loved. Other items like the samosa and chaat were also delicious.

However, I was quite disappointed with the biryani. It seemed more like chicken curry was added on top after the rice was served, rather than being cooked together. It felt like basmati rice served with chicken gravy, and the strong cumin flavour overpowered the dish.

The chicken frankie was good, though it could be improved by reducing the amount of ghee or oil used.

Overall, the service was good, and the food presentation and ambience were definitely a plus.

We had a very good experience in this place! We ordered three Indian street foods as starters and they all tasted very delicious and special, with our Indian friend explaining everything alongside, it felt like a cultural food tour. The three curries dishes we ordered are also tasteful. I highly recommend the green curry with cheese cubes, so special. According to our Indian friend, food is all very authentic. Highly recommend!

Just what I needed today . Very comforting , wholesome and flavourful . Il definitely book to eat in and explore more foods next time . I also love that they have lots of beautiful Indian desserts too as its very rare to find one that does which is also truly authentic !
I’m not entirely sure what I had as I ordered through the ‘too good to go’ app but I received a whole tray of fluffy white rice , I’m assuming the other was tarka dhal , I’m usually fussy with this, but I honestly can’t fault it , so heart warming ! Also had a lovely chicken curry along side it with a samosa and a poppadom. All for 4.99 I also couldn’t resist coming back in to try a whole box selection of their desserts . Looking forward to some gulab jamun when I book a table with my family amd friends . Thank you Amon

We decided to give this eatery a try, and we weren’t disappointed!
There are many Indian restaurants in this part of Swansea, but this one is a little different.
The ambience is relaxed with nicely decorated walls and a fairly modern seated area.
The menu is large, but don’t expect the ‘usual’ standard dishes, although there are some familiar meals to try.
There is a section of the menu devoted to Indian street food with plenty to tempt the palate.
Also a selection thali combinations if you fancy trying a bit of a selection.
All food was very tasty (fairly spicy), and well presented. The balance between the main ingredients and the sauce was much better than you normally experience in a typical restaurant; less sauce, but very intensely flavoured/ fragranced.
The staff members are polite and knowledgeable, while checking that we were happy at every stage of our stay.
Highly recommended

I’m vegetarian and work away often and mostly dine alone. Des Swag is a very welcoming restaurant, it’s serves a mix of Vegetarian, Vegan and Meat dishes. The owner is happy to advise on the dishes they serve and just as happy to leave you to it. It’s feels very traditional with a warm welcoming atmosphere.
It’s the second time I’ve visited here, this time I had Mixed Pakoda for starters with Punjabi Choley, Nan and Basmati rice as a my main.
Definitely recommend this place, it’s often quiet but I know it gets busy at weekends.

Stopped for lunch at Desi Swaag Authentic Indian Food in Swansea, and it truly impressed us! We started with Dahi Chaat and Papdi Chaat — both fresh, flavourful, and beautifully served. I was a bit sceptical about trying the Royal Chai at first, but the owner assured us it was authentically flavoured — and he was absolutely right. It was rich, creamy, and genuinely comforting. Then came the Paneer Frankie — soft, perfectly spiced, and packed with flavour — followed by warm, melt-in-the-mouth Gulab Jamuns to finish. Portions were generous, prices pocket-friendly, and the service warm and welcoming. Every bite tasted like home. Easily one of the best spots for genuine Indian food — a must-try if you’re craving true Indian flavours in Swansea
