Visited this place for lunch and was impressed by their wide-ranging menu that includes chaat, appetizers, and breakfast items. We tried the DM Special Biryani and Madrass Chicken, along with Irani Chai.

DM Special Biryani: Flavorful and delicious, made with boneless chicken. Would definitely come back to try their dum biryani next time. Rating: 4.5/5

Madrass Chicken: Not quite to my taste—gravy was a bit tangy and the chicken pieces were inconsistent in size, making some harder to eat. However, it was freshly prepared. Rating: 3/5

Irani Chai: Served complimentary, and honestly, one of the best teas I’ve had in recent times. Rating: 5/5

Ambience: Loved the thoughtful murals and overall decor. Rating: 5/5
Service: They seemed understaffed, with only one person taking orders when we visited around 12:30 PM. Our food took about 25–30 minutes to arrive. That said, the staff and management were kind and polite. Rating: 2.5/5

Overall, a great experience and I’m looking forward to trying their chaat items next time!

I have a friend who knows the owner Narasimha, but I’ll try to keep my review unbiased. This place has potential, but there is a lot it can and should do to differentiate itself from Hyderabad House that’s literally walking distance away and also right at the grocery store.

The chaat stand is an interesting concept but the food was just not being prepared frequently enough to keep the ingredients in the wok looking fresh and appetizing. There are also no standing tables to stand and sip chai or snack on chaat while you’re talking to someone. All of the tables are for sitting and eating.

The pinpad on the credit card machine was not functional when I visited. The food display area was also pretty empty when I went (they had only opened a week prior at that time so I’m not surprised).

Food itself was pretty good, but you can get something similar at Hyderabad House for about 20% less.

I do hope this business does well, but there is plenty of room to improve.

Had a wonderful experience at Desi Bites! I went there with my friends and tried the biryani fried rice, and it was absolutely delicious full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The ambiance was pleasant, and the overall vibe made our time even more enjoyable. Great food, good company, and excellent service made this visit memorable. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend it to anyone who loves good desi food!

*** Updated review*** I am editing my review – my second visit was not good. We went on Friday -12-14 people and they were not able to provide food in time and also food was not good, they literally took 1 hr for veg thali. Service needs to be improved!!

This is new franchise based restaurant open in Polaris. This is in the same place of Spice 9 restaurant. Desai bites have 15 locations including Columbus.

Location: This is in Sancus boulevard right next to Chase Polaris.

Atmosphere and ambience: As per the name they have painted the walls with different Indian food and other Indian famous places. Ambience are decent enough.

Food: They have wide variety of food options on the menu but as the restaurant is new so some of the items are not available. I am being vegetarian I tried Gobhi Manchurian, veg noodles (street style) and Desibites paneer biryani.
Gobhi Manchurian was good, noodle what’s different flavors as it’s street style so liked flavors and taste.
The DB biryani was also different compared to traditional Hyderabadi style biryanis, it had lot of different flavors and spices. The biryani was mild not that spicy.

Highlight: The best part of the visit is the Irani chai which was complementary. The best chai here in Columbus. I felt like drinking chai in India.

Must try. Will update once they open full menu with all the items.

Chicken Tikka Masala was rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced, with tender pieces of chicken full of flavor.
The naan bread was soft, warm, and fresh, making it the perfect match to scoop up every bite.
A classic combo that was comforting, satisfying, and absolutely delicious.

Cool spot with an Indian street food vibe, I enjoyed the Kathi roll and the samosa chaat but the biryani was a bit underwhelming (ordered the chicken biryani). It was still good, just not great.

I still recommend people to check this place out and support this local biz… lots of variety and options!

Ordered
Gobi 65 – Gobi was burnt
Shrimp noodles – Shrimp was burnt and the smell was strong
Kizhi Parotta chicken – parota was fully wet and did not have taste.
None of us were able to eat them …

No one served water, we went back our car to water…

The food was burnt and tasteless…

Service here is bad. These young girls and guys don’t know what they are doing.
1) Irani chai is really good.
2) Madras chicken appetizer tastes good but it’s not authentic Madras dish.
3) Goat Dum biryani and chicken Dum biryani are good but not the best. I would suggest goat biryani over chicken biryani.
4) DB chicken(dry appetizer) is good. It’s basically chicken 65 with some curry powder on it to bring different flavor. But it’s very hard after few minutes.
5) Chicken fried rice tastes good but it’s not authentic street style.
6) Lamb biryani doesn’t taste good, tastes sweet and very hard.
7) Samosa chat is ok.
8) Pani puri is messed up. I posted photo. I don’t know how to rate that. It’s leaking lol.
