I must say that the guy was very nice and helpful. I think I was his last customer for the day, it took longer than I expected because of traffic. Luckily, he was still there when I made it.
Aesthetically, the sandwich was perfect! I can appreciate a well put together sandwich! I mean he had it down to clean cut lines and equal quarters… However, I did not love the sandwich, I just liked it. I consider myself to be a Club Sandwich Connoisseur, and yes I am tooting my own horn while saying that I know a thing or two about said sandwiches…
I did not care for the bread. It wasn’t toasted enough to me. The lettuce and tomatoes where very fresh. The cheese wasn’t my favorite either. I think it was cheddar and I prefer American on my club sandwiches. The meat, while freshly sliced, my taste buds were not tantalized. The bacon had a really great taste but it wasn’t crunchy. Soft bacon on a club sandwich is no bueno! For me the bacon and bread are the most important parts that makes the sandwich while all the other ingredients pulls it together. I mean, of course the ham and turkey are key too but you must get the bread and bacon right first. I cannot remember if there were any mayonnaise on it or not. The mayo is equally important as well. I prefer Hellman’s or Duke’s real mayo. A dill spear was on the side which I loved. Oh and the potato salad was damn good!
Would I go back, yes I would. One, because my daughter loved it. Two, there’s a quaint little fresh produce market attached to it. I would have to give it a 4 star but my daughter said it’s a 5 so I’ll go with her on that!
All in all, I think you would enjoy the food from this neat little sandwich shop in the sweet tea of a town called Summerville in the most beautiful state of South Carolina!
Note- I edited this review after Derek responded, because I had not given clear feedback on what was bad about the sandwich in my initial review. You might still see his response below. Derek was upset about my review, preferring that I give feedback in person so he could make it right. I understand and admire that and wish Derek the best, but I’m sticking to my review of the sandwiches we were given. When you send people with take-out food, sometimes you get one shot to get it right.
**Sorry for the lack of pictures but we were hungry and our kids stole the leftovers. Trust me when I say, the presentation matches the taste.
Pro tip: Head down the street and enjoy your lunch at Doty Park!
The woman who works there is always so friendly and nice at this very popular local place. There are many people who call their order in and come pick it up, so there’s a steady flow of customers.
There are a bunch of picnic tables at the back of the parking lot and under the trees, so large groups can eat here.
The sides are all fantastic and made fresh. Pure comfort food- potato salad, Cole slaw, and macaroni salad are our favorites.
On this visit, we got our favorite gyros, served with a pineapple ring and a side. The gyros are tasty, fresh, and warm, made to order, with a good amount of meat and cheese.
Highly recommend.
