Great food and a great dinning experience! Loaded with antiques all around you and upstairs. The host’s were very friendly and entertaining. The building has a rich history going back to the 1870’s and with a story about the Devil’s Swamp behind the building. I loved this place and the food. Call for reservations as seating is limited.

You will never find another experience like Der Jaeger! We had this place on our list for quite some time and finally decided to try it with a group of friends. Der Jaeger is the PERFECT restaurant for a dinner with friends. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, the food is some of the best food you’ll ever eat, and overall, you’ll leave blown away! The owners are by far some of the nicest kindest people I’ve ever met. This is definitely a kid free place and you ABSOLUTELY must have reservations.

First off I would like to say how wonderful the 2 people who own this place are. Like a part of the family. The food was absolutely delicious everything that came out was fresh and it was enough. We were a party of 7, we had reservations at 6pm we didnt leave til 1030 pm. Mostly enjoying our time with eachother and the owners. My family and I rant about this place and can not wait to go there again. You can BYOB even though they have German beer available. Reservations are a most to get into this Gem of a place. 10/10

We were a party of 7 to celebrate a 68th wedding anniversary. The owners are very friendly and gracious and fun to talk to. The food was outstanding – we were stationed in Germany and are always looking for a good German restaurant with authentic food. We finally found it! Everyone enjoyed their meal, especially the rouladen, schnitzels, & wurst platters. The borscht and the cream of onion soups were delicious. Highly recommend!

The most memorable, unique, an delicious dinner we’ve ever had, seriously! We stumbled upon Der jaeger by complete accident. We had no idea it was a husband wife team with the most amazing 3 table restaurant (reservation only!) antique shop combo with German food to die for – all prepared by the wife in the kitchen which you can see from your table. As we waited for our meal, we explored the antique shop. The entire house, including the upstairs and every room is full of amazing things. You can probably spend all night browsing but we had food to eat! We went crazy and ordered 3 entrees and 4 sides for 2 people and everything was out of this world good. Absolutely delicious. I can’t believe this place has been up the road from our home for years. We can not wait to go back and will be bringing family with us next time. If you’re looking for a comfortable, truly homemade, absolutely delicious, super unique dining experience, go! What an absolute hidden gem.

Janus and his wife were great hosts and very personable. Food was very very tasty in a very grandma style setting. The bread, German sourdough was delicious. Definitely recommend the snitzel and the potato salad! The antique stor where the restaurant is located at is great too. Will definitely come back with a larger crowd.

OMG! Talk about a wonderful experience! The food is incredible and the owners, even more-so. It feels like you’re having dinner with the German family you didn’t know you had. You are absolutely not rushed. The food takes some time but it gives you the opportunity to explore all the antiques in the building. Talk about an incredible collection. Overall, the food is amazing and the experience was nothing less than awesome. You will miss out if you never get the chance to try Der Jäger. Make sure to make a reservation in advanced! It’s nearly impossible to do a walk-in!

Der Jaeger is not to be missed! Sylvana and Janusz served home cooked, authentic food that was absolutely delicious! My husband and I dined at this fabulous place last Friday. We were greeted warmly and seated immediately. Reservations are required as only a small number of tables are available. The highlights of this dining establishment are many – the bread basket is super special. A home baked bread sliced thin with butter and raisins and cinnamon tasted almost like dessert, but was delicious, moist and wonderful. The pretzel rolls were also tasty! As was the rye and pumpernickel too! Moving on to sausage sampler with sauerkraut. Do not miss this spectacular treat (Janusz makes this outside on the grill and when added to Sylvana’s sauerkraut, it’s a winning combination.) Our main meals were also delicious. My husband had Rouladen and I had the veal schnitzel. Homemade, delicious and the best ever! For sides we had the warm potato salad, the cucumber salad (both scrumptious), red cabbage (the best I’ve ever had) and a homemade spaetzle that was so delicious, it rates off the charts! The Apple streusel is not to be missed! We thank the owners for their wonderful hospitality, their talent in the kitchen and a meal we will remember always! Wonderful dining experience!

We called very last minute for a reservation and to our surprise they had a table available. Drinks (he was hand picked a german beer and i was given the most robust and sweet raspberry wine), bread (ohhhh the bread basket included themes pretzel like bun that is to DIE FOR and dinner ( absolutely everything about dinner was spectacular, way too much to detail),were absolutely delicious. We were invited to walk around and look at all of the antiques while waiting for our dinners to be prepared. So glad we did as it was fascinating to see room after room of beautiful antiques. This was an enjoyable experience from start to finish. Dinner and drinks were again absolutely delicious and we are looking forward to going again, perhaps getting dessert next time.
Amazing find with fantastic people in the middle of nowhere.
