Food was decent. Service was good. I got the buffet (13.99) thinking I’d get more bang for my buck from menu prices but it was a little limited it hot food area. Bacon looked better than it tasted. Had a rubber texture even though it looked perfect/ crisp. Offered Scrambled eggs, mini pancakes, French toast stickes, biscuits(dry) and gravy. No sauage patties. Only links. Great fruit bar and offered beautiful mini donuts on the bar. Took a dz of full size donuts home. ($26!) Definitely not budget friendly and most seemed bulk purchased and not from scratch. Very busy and popular place to meet up so be prepared to wait at busy times. * Rest rooms were spotless
When our party of 30 was called to be seated, I was genuinely impressed with how well the dining area was arranged. Even though our tables couldn’t be fully combined, the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were seated close enough to talk, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company comfortably. The service was excellent—our waitresses were friendly, attentive, and quick to take our orders and bring our drinks so we could start enjoying our meals right away.
The food selection was outstanding. There was a wide variety of options to choose from, including a full salad bar and two additional buffet bars offering an assortment of entrées, sides, and desserts. Everything looked fresh, plentiful, and thoughtfully prepared.
Overall, Der Dutchman exceeded all expectations. From the atmosphere to the service to the incredible range of food, this restaurant delivered an exceptional dining experience. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning!
Der Dutchman in Plain City is a must-visit if you love great Amish kitchen cooking. Everything is fresh, hearty, and full of that homemade comfort you just don’t find everywhere anymore.
The breakfast and dinner buffets are excellent, with a huge variety of items to choose from—something for everyone, and it’s all consistently delicious. You can really taste the care that goes into the food.
Der Dutchman is part of Dutchman Hospitality, which also includes Dutchman Valley and Berlin Farmstead restaurants, with locations in Bellville, Berlin, Walnut Creek, Sugarcreek, Plain City, and even Sarasota. They’ve clearly perfected what they do across all their locations.
Don’t skip the bakery before you leave. It’s packed with take-home goodies like cream pies, fruit pies, cinnamon rolls, cakes, donuts, and more—dangerously good and worth every calorie.
Friendly service, comforting food, and an overall great experience every time. Highly recommend!
