As a thriller and romance author, I like going out and snagging a good breakfast. Ended up going over to Denny’s to pick up breakfast for my parents. Instead of ordering it on Uber Eats or DoorDash, I wanted to have it picked up since I had to go out anyway. I would have a scene with my romance and thriller novels here.
This location was really busy on a Friday morning. There were people waiting in the lobby, but I didn’t see anyone waiting more than 10 or 15 minutes. Pretty reasonable for a relatively small store in a premium location.
The food was good as always. We ordered two Moons Over My Hammy. I’d never seen that on the menu before, and it was amazingly good. For my mom, we ordered French toast and a side of bacon. She’s a much lighter eater.
Just like all the other Denny’s, the staff was efficient and super friendly. For all the pressure and speed they have to produce food, they keep a smiling face nonstop. It’s really commendable.
This location has plenty of Spanish-speaking staff, which is helpful for the neighborhood. It’s a strong Mexican-American community, and there are no issues with that. I grew up in San Ysidro, and having a Denny’s right near Nestor is great.
There used to be one next to the Chevron station on the east side of Interstate 5, but that one closed a long time ago. (Grew up in the 1980s here). I was super happy when this new location opened. It’s much smaller, but it’s a brand-new building. This used to be a dirt lot after the old post office was torn down.
Parking is definitely a bit of a challenge. There isn’t a huge amount of space, but there is parking behind the building. If you see a line spilling out into the street, finding a spot might be a little tough.

I had an amazing experience at Denny’s, thanks to our waiter Elmer. From the moment we sat down, he was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He checked in at the perfect times, made sure our drinks were always full, and handled everything with a great attitude. You can tell he truly cares about providing excellent service. Because of Elmer, our meal was enjoyable and stress-free. Easily one of the best service experiences I’ve had here give this man a raise!

We had an absolutely fantastic breakfast at Denny’s and left feeling completely satisfied. The Santa Fe Skillet was perfectly seasoned and hot, while the Choconana pancake combo was the ultimate sweet treat to round out the meal. Everything was cooked to perfection, but the highlight of our visit was definitely the service. Our server, Elmer, did a wonderful job taking care of us and made sure we had everything we needed with a friendly attitude. We will definitely be coming back soon for another great experience!

I walked in craving a classic diner meal and was greeted with the comforting aroma of sizzling bacon and fresh coffee. The Grand Slam breakfast I ordered was hearty and satisfying, with fluffy pancakes and perfectly cooked eggs. The service was prompt and friendly, making me feel right at home. However, the coffee could have been hotter, and the syrup was a bit too sweet for my taste. Despite these minor issues, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I left with a full stomach and a smile

I was very disappointed with our visit. We decided to give it a try after so many years. The service was very bad, the restrooms were filthy I had to tell my kids to hold it and we would go elsewhere instead. My hamburger bottom bun was all soaked from the grease. Our server never came to bring us drinks or napkins we had to ask someone else. The coffee mug and Jar was dirty as well as the syrup bottle which the manager switched out for us. Then the server came back and switched it with another one that had Lint on top. The server excused it as if it was no big deal. I served at dennys in National city for over 7 years as a server assistant,hostess,server and even because a manager. I would have never let things like this happened. The server tried to give a hot plate to my toddler not once but twice that’s definitely something you don’t do.
My recommendation are work on your customer service for the server and for the manager pay attention to details. I know how it is when it’s busy but there’s always time for everything specially before seating or taking the food or condiments to the customers.

I like this store a lot. When I want to take out I have a big problem with the web page. Ordering is clear as mud. I select what I want but there is no path to complete the order. Its like you dont want online orders? Where is the cart where you review and compkete the order. It is sending me in circles. When I try to review it says tgere is nothing there after I already selected things.
