Deninos Pizzeria is a landmark in New York, with our award winning, thin-crust pizza. We originally opened in 1937 as a full tavern on Richmond Avenue, Staten Island until Carlo Denino introduced Pizza in 1951. Since then, Deninos Pizzeria and Tavern has been renowned for our pizza pie and Italian dinner platters, which we always prepare fresh daily. We use our familys recipes for Chicken Parmigiana, Meatballs and Sausage and over the years we’ve added our own version of tavern favorites like Wings, Scungilli and Hero Sandwiches. Everything is always made from scratch, never frozen, and cooked to order

Great casual Italian place. Staff was friendly and attentive. Huge tables of people having fun conversations with delicious food. We had a delicious pie, half white pizzas d half sausage and shrooms. It was perfect!

The pizza is average. The wait staff are snippy and make you feel as if they are doing you a favor. Yet they expect an above average tip and give you the stink eye when you give 20%. They literally hand you the knives, forks, and napkins for you to set the table by yourself. Yet, they act as if they are going above and beyond. The nerve and audacity. They would not know what constituted excellent service if it fell right in front of them. I’m sure the miserable Karens are going to respond to my post in their usual crass manner. I can tell from their responses to other negative and perhaps honest reviews that they’re thin-skinned.

Old time Italian food and pizza in a location that retained old world charm. The wait staff was friendly and professional (especially explaining that the ATM and credit card machine was not working) and that bled on to the attitudes of the customers, who did not mind paying in cash. Pizza is the draw here. Cars lined up for what little parking the restaurant has in the back. Tons of traffic to get in, best to find street parking some distance away and walk here.

I had the penne vodka. Better than most and a generous portion of it. The Eggplant rollatini is one of the best on the island. Our waiter, Mike, was very attentive and the food came out quickly. I’m not into thin crust pizza, so I didn’t order any. Great atmosphere, although the booth could have been a little wider. I’m going there again! Try it. You’ll like it.

I had a great experience at Denino’s Pizzeria & Tavern. Despite the initial impression of the tavern ambiance, I’m pleased I didn’t let it deter me. The food and service were excellent. The pizza, in particular, stood out with a solid 7.9 rating. It was definitely worth the journey from Brooklyn.
