I ordered the Spanakopita as a treat to take home for my wife. This is what we found when we opened the bag, needless to say that we couldn’t eat the meal that I paid $14.00 for. We just couldn’t get past the burnt taste. One photo is from a Google image search and the other is the one Demetrio’s sold me.

If I could give zero stars to Demetrios, to the woman manager who before hanging up on me (3 times) would only say to “call Uber”, the 2 other women who answered the phone saying someone would call me back (no one did), the owner who never called me back, and Uber eats. My order was never delivered. I placed the order through Demetrio’s website; they use Uber eats for delivery. Both uber Eats and Demetrios say they’re not responsible. Uber Eats said since I ordered from the restaurant website, they can’t help me. Demetrios said that once the driver picks up the pizza they’re no longer responsible. So, I’m out $100 and no pizza but both Demetrios and Uber eats get paid, aren’t they lucky. There is no decent customer service anymore. They were rude and unwilling to help. They held no responsibility. I feel, Demetrios is ultimately responsible because they hired Uber eats to make the delivery.
My bank is helping to dispute this.

Fresh and homemade spinach pie with a Greek salad. Everything was well proportioned. Also had a cauliflower crust pizza. Very crispy and I put several toppings on it. It was very very good and enjoyed it tremendously. We’re just passing through and wanted to try some local spots and this is a good choice.

Family liked their food too and they staff was able to do a half portion for my son because it wasn’t on the kids menu. Excellent service and a just-right level of busy.

The pizza has never looked like this ever before. The crust was paper thin and the large cheese pizza was UNDER COOKED and DOUGHY on the bottom and the crust was completely white on the bottom. Usually it has different colors and is crusty and good. It was nothing like that. I was able to finally send pictures of the pizza so please scroll down to the bottom of this page so you can review them. Look at the cheese does that pizza look appetizing to you? Would you actually eat that pizza? I told Jennifer that I had taken pictures of the pizza and she said there was no way for her to see them because I was not allowed to text them to her. I was very disappointed because she really did not want to do much about it and told me to call the delivery people.
The delivery people did not cook the pizza Demetrios did!!
She is actually one of the owners and I can’t believe she said she saw the pizza and thought it looked fine and allowed it to go out like that to a customer!! ♀️
UPDATE: In the middle of the night, I must’ve got food poisoning and I threw up several times because I had one piece of the pizza.
That same evening I put the rest of the pizza in my refrigerator and when I opened the refrigerator the next morning I threw up at the smell that was permeating all through my refrigerator from the pizza so I threw it out which I was planning to do anyway. I have cleaned the refrigerator several times and that same smell is still in there and I can’t get rid of it.
Google just sent me a notification that 75 people have already seen what the pizza looked like.
I called Uber eats and told them what happened and they refused to refund my money even after they saw the pictures of the pizza. UBER EATS It’s not on your side, and the owners of Demetrios don’t care either.

Iceberg lettuce in a Caesar salad? 1 olive, 1 wedge of tomatoe and one banana pepper. No salami, cucumber, stuffed grape leaves? Must be a Florida thing. Garlic bread was not hot or toasted, margarine. Ewe. Service was fast, price was high for what we got but would otherwise be reasonable. Entrees were unremarkable.

This restaurant has been a staple in Sarasota for at least 40 years. The atmosphere is very casual and clean. The owners / hosts are super friendly and very cordial. The staff is very fast and knows the menu cold. I especially like the lunch specials where you can get a salad, pizza and a drink for a reasonable price. The one main thing is if you don’t eat lunch or dinner there, you have to try the desserts. The amaretto ice cream truffle ball is ridiculous. One of the best desserts in town for a family friendly restaurant. Thanks for reading this.

I’ve been coming to Demetrio’s (on South Tamiami trail) since it opened in the mid 1970s. My wife and I ate there again just yesterday. It blows my mind that the pizza (which is excellent in my opinion) is the same as when they first opened! It is so nice to have a restaurant stay so consistent over all these years compared to most that change to less quality ingredients just to save a buck. Thank you, Demetrio’s!!!!
