I feasted on the Sailor Sandwich at the Deli King Of Clark in #Clark, #NJ. Two kosher franks (they’re out of knockwurst today) with pastrami and kraut on rye. So good! Great deli experience. #INeverSausageaHotDog

I met a friend today for lunch who had never been to Deli King. He can’t wait to return. The food was delicious as always. We feasted on a corned beef sandwich, a pastrami sandwich, a round knish, and kasha with bow ties. Scrumptious!

Great deli! Fantastic sandwiches, quick and friendly staff. Love that they bring sour & half-sour pickles and cole slaw to the table — a true deli touch!

My first time visiting this little strip-mall-gem in Clark. Had pastrami on rye. I asked for the meat very hot, but it was served luke-warm. Regardless, the sandwich was delicious – the meat was tender, with just the right amount of fat. The rye was excellent.

As required in all Jewish delis, I ate a half sour pickle and sampled the health salad – both excellent.

The service was terrific – prompt and efficient. The restaurant is clean and pleasant. There was ample parking (on a weekday). I will happily return to this restaurant.

This place has such deep meaning for me. My family has gone there for celebrations and memorials alike.

Their food is top notch comfort. I love the Turkey Cran-Deli, the corned beef sloppy sandwiches, the soups, the salads… it’s easy to spend a lot, but it’s worth it for the quality!

I ordered the pastrami Sandwich, was it memorable? not really. It was mediocre but not bad. Felt portion size was small for the price aswell. Overall 3/5.

Deli King is a neighborhood icon. One of the few remaining Jewish style delicatessens in the area. They offer both dine in and takeout.

Deli King serves Pastrami, Corned beef, Roast beef & brisket sandwiches among others. They have great salads and sides. Many home made soups are available to take out by the quart. Dr Brown soda is available.

They have appetizers including lox, whitefish, sable and baked salmon.

There is plenty of free parking. 3.9% service fee for credit card purchase.

It was *fine*. Turkey was slightly dry, bread was fine. I think the real issue I have is the pricing and meeting-expectations.

This was my second visit — but first time purchasing. The prior time I saw the prices and left without purchasing. This time I figured I would give it a shot, based on reviews here. But my sandwich was just *fine*, and didn’t match the expectation I had based on the price.

If you look at the old photos on Google, what I ordered (Turkey Club) five years ago was $13.95. Nine months ago was $19.95. Today was $23.00. That’s pretty aggressive price increases, and part of me wishes I had my first visit nine months ago.

Additionally there’s a 3.99% fee for credit card purchases, which is certainly well above market, as most know. Some places take the track of upping flat menu prices and foregoing the additional credit card fee, but that’s not the case here. But I knew in advance and still decided to order, I am not pretending to be blindsided or misled. I’m just saying what I received was not a $25 sandwich (after taxes and fees), in my opinion. I’d grade it closer to a $15 sandwich.

And maybe I’m just not the target audience. I don’t need to keep kosher, and certainly there’s value there that I don’t appreciate. Also it seems like the real draw here is the pastrami, so not what I ordered. But if you’re just on Google searching “deli” that isn’t the totality of the information that would be useful to differentiate different delis.

Wish them all the best, and if they do sufficient business at these prices, I could just be the wrong customer. One soft suggestion would be to see if they can get Google to revise the price range for their page from $10-20 to be higher — since it could cause potential new customers to feel blindsided.
