Shadow of what it was 10-15 years ago, major disappointment in the oven department. Pizzas were fired so poorly and inconsistently for all tables. A month ago I had OK pizza, today our pies were ‘half puffy and half flat crust on the edges’ (they are not cooked equally, rookie mistake). No sight of a leopard-spotted crust like one expects from Neapolitan shop. (The pizza wasn’t even circular, which is typically a rookie mistake.) Next table’s crust was completely burned, another pie they got was not baked enough. I’ll continue firing pizzas in my backyard ooni oven probably, I can’t believe I actually make better pizza than Delancey which was once the best in Seattle.

Also that romana pizza is purely salt, I’m suspecting the chef isn’t trying it himself, because I also bake anchovy pizza at home and they are actually edible… 20% tip included automatically, another point of disappointment but also representative of Seattle’s food scene.

Pizza is among the best I’ve ever had, and likely will have; crusty, a subtle smokiness, good quality and some non-ordinary toppings. We ordered 4 pizzas for 6 people. Probably could have done with one more, likely because my 4 year old granddaughter ate 2/3 of a Margherita pizza herself. The staff is efficient if at times a bit imperious. The seating area is on the small side, especially given the restaurant’s popularity, and plain, but appealing. It’s in a residential neighborhood in Seattle so parking can be a challenge, but manageable.

I was really excited to try Delancey during my visit to Seattle, as it had been on my list for the best Neapolitan pizza in the city. But after finally experiencing it, I’m left a little torn. The pizza is good, no doubt about that. I ordered the white pizza with the “fancy mushrooms” cooked in brown butter and garlic was delicious—the topping was flavorful and elevated the dish. But here’s the thing: for over $40 for a single pie, I expected more than just good.

Don’t get me wrong, the pizza tastes great, but $40+ for one pie. It didn’t feel worth it, especially when compared to other Neapolitan pizzas I’ve had for a more reasonable price. The quality is there, but I don’t think the price tag matches the value, especially in the context of the Seattle pizza scene. I found out after the fact — there’s a 20% gratuity on to-go orders, which felt a bit much. I’m not sure whether that applies to dine-in too.

On the bright side, the bar next door “Essex” (which I believe is associated with Delancey) offers some great drinks. It’s a cool spot to grab a drink if you’re in the neighborhood or waiting on your table for dinner at Delancey, though—unfortunately—I was told by bar staff you can’t eat the pizza at the bar.

If you’re okay with a $40 price tag for a Neapolitan pizza, then Delancey is fine. But if you’re hoping for more bang for your buck, this might not be the place to splurge.

In conclusion, if you’re simply wanting to say you’ve tried Delancey— like I did, go ahead—one visit will probably be enough for me.

A friend suggested Delancey on my short trip to Seattle (and was shocked that I actually went ), let’s just say I’ll be asking her for more suggestions when I travel. I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in and seated in little to no time. My server made me feel at home and answered all my questions (didn’t know want grana was ‍♀️). Then the food came… yup amazing pizza, yup fantastic flavors, and yup I’ll be back.

Delancy is in my top three pizzas spots in Seattle. The atmosphere is always great. The staff is wonderful, friendly, and we’ll talk about the food and shows a real passion for what they’re doing. Recommend trying to get an early there’s normally a wait but if you do have to wait there’s a nice bar next-door to grab a drink or two. The pizza is amazing. Honestly think about this pizza more than I should.

WARNING: You will be automatically charged a 20% gratuity fee for any takeaway pizza. They should make this clearer next time for any customers. They didn’t even give me any warning or option to adjust the fee. Shannon was also a bit rude about explaining their tipping policy on take outs after I got my pizza. I’m not going back again!

Plus they burnt my pizza. I didn’t like the taste and it’s a bit dry. I’m a New Yorker and I know my pizzas.

It’s dangerous living so close to Delancey. Their pizzas are delicious and the service is always great. Shannon, Mo, Jonno, and co. are always wonderful ☺️ Definitely recommend their Margherita pizza and burrata. This is the best Neapolitan-style pizza in Seattle, and it isn’t even close. If there’s a wait, grab a cocktail at Essex or a beer and shoot some pool or play darts across the street at Tarasco.

Tucked away in Ballard, this restaurant was initially not on our radar but we decided to give it a try after someone recommended it to us and we really enjoyed the food ! The Neapolitan style pizza was very tasty and served piping hot. The only downside was that the crusts were a little too burnt for my taste but I know some folks enjoy that. I would highly recommend giving them a try.

Cool place with good pizza! There’s been a lot of hype around eating here, I was happy to finally have the opportunity. I do believe they could get a little more edgy with their toppings…I found the pizza options to be a bit “regular” and I was looking for something a little outside the box. With that said, the pizza was delish, we ate every morsel. The stand out items on the table though was not the pizza but the apps. We ordered the salad, burrata, and wood-fired green beans and everything was fantastic! We were raving about them while walking down the street. The wait time was a bit long, I’d recommend putting your name in early and grabbing a drink next door while you wait. The service was wonderful, the atmosphere is cozy and we all left very full.

I wasn’t a fan. It’s not bad pizza, but I’ve had better. I had 2 pizzas to go and perhaps not eating them hot was the issue, but both were salty and oily. I’m glad I tried it but probably won’t be coming back. Parking is also a hassle (there is none), find a street spot.
