Family-run pizzeria dishing up Italian staples from deep-dish pies to panini in a relaxed setting.

I ordered chicken Marsala (no mushrooms), and apparently that was interpreted as “hold the flavor.” What came out was thin, lifeless chicken over bowtie pasta drowning in a pale brown liquid that had the personality of warm water.
There was no Marsala wine reduction. No depth. No richness. No seasoning. Just bland chicken and what tasted like diluted cafeteria gravy. Even without mushrooms, the defining element of this dish is the wine sauce — and it was completely absent.
Calling this chicken Marsala is ambitious. It felt like someone plated the most beige combination possible and hoped the name would carry it. I’ve had frozen meals with more authenticity and effort.
If you’re going to put a classic Italian dish on the menu, at least let it resemble one.

Stay away from the lasagna unless you want five pounds of cheese and one noodle. However, the fettuccine alfredo was on point.I would definitely go back there again. For that and the garlic Parmasean fries were amazing. The sauce tasted very authentic..

Del Vecchios was a recommended place in Asheville so we tried it out for a late lunch after running a few errands in town. You order at the counter and we were greeted with a smile as we came in. We ordered a meat calzone and their lasagna. We enjoyed the fresh hot food that was served with a smile from the waitress. Portions were ample and we will enjoy the leftovers later.

Order at the counter and they bring the hot food to you. Pizza slices were huge. Garlic knots were super. Also ordered fettuccine alfredo and the kids enjoyed it.
Fast and friendly service. Wonderful casual dining experience.

Always great food, been going here for years. Pizza is delicious, they’re a sweeter sauce than most and the dough/crust is tasty. Sandwiches and pasta are fantastic and big portion. Pricing on specialty items is tough, but you can get out of here on the cheap if you stick to the basics.

I’ve been to Vinnie’s on Hendersonville Rd and enjoyed it, so I decided to give their Merrimon Avenue location a try. I called ahead yesterday around 4 PM to ask when the best time for a table for two would be and was told to come after 7:30 PM. We arrived at 7:50 PM, only to find the place packed with a 35-minute wait. Hoping to make the best of it, we sat at the bar, but the atmosphere was so loud we could barely hear each other without shouting. Loud music and yelling aren’t my idea of a nice dinner out, so we decided to leave.
From there, we headed down the street to DelVecchios—and I’m so glad we did. It was an unexpected delight. The food was far more delicious than we could have hoped for, and we’ll definitely be going back. The setup is different from Vinnie’s. It’s more casual—you place your order at the counter, grab your drink at the drink station, and then take a seat. The dining area is spacious, and there’s a small bar as well. There was a steady flow of to-go orders, which made it clear they’re a favorite among locals.
As for the food, I ordered the chicken parm, and my date had the old-world chicken cacciatore. Both dishes were exceptional. DelVecchios is a completely different dining experience than Vinnie’s, but one I’d highly recommend. It’s a gem of a spot that deserves a visit if you’re in the area. — feeling blissful at Del Vecchios.

Ordered a pick-up order online. It was ready in 20 minutes. The pizza was good, NY style. The sausage was shaved, almost like Italian beef. We also ordered the chicken parmesan, which weighed about 5lbs. It came with two delicious garlic knots. Definitely ask for extra pasta sauce or an extra side of sauce. By the time we ate the pasta, it was pretty dry but tasty. I would definitely go back and try some sandwiches and order more garlic knots.

What a wonderful gem! We were looking for NY or thin crust pizza, and this place does not disappoint! By the pie or by the slice are your options… but don’t skip the huge and tasty salads, panini, and pasta…. Or the amazing desserts!
We visited in mid July on a weeknight and we able to sit outside on the patio, surrounded by flower beds filled with fresh herbs, tomatoes, pepper plants, and edible flowers!
The location we visited is in the River Arts District, so mostly a quiet neighborhood atmosphere with some traffic.
We sampled the margherita, all meat, and supreme slices, a Greek salad with pickled onions, and garlic knots. The pizza slices were crispy on the crust and bottom edge, but gooey and wonderful and loaded with toppings on the top side. The sauce is more a sun-dried tomato flavor, but they did not over load the sauce. The flavors were big and balanced. Oh, and the slices are enormous. We finished our meal with dessert. The toasted almond blonde tiramisu is delicate and flavorful and we loved it.
The place isn’t fancy and we were the only ones to dine on site. The service was good despite them being very busy with carry out orders and call ins.
Total win for us, would absolutely recommend!

Super slow service. Once we recieved our food the Stromboli dough was raw, the spaghetti had more onions than a Vidalia Georgia onion field, the garlic knots were burned on top and raw on the bottom, the cheesesticks were worse than the cheapest grocery store frozen cheesesticks we’ve ever tasted and the marinara sauce was watery and tasteless. Maybe this was a one-off instance but it was bad enough for us to leave this review and warn potential customers to proceed with caution. You’ve been warned!

My family got a basic bow tie pasta, a pizza and a bolognese pasta. All of it was terrible. Pizza was a 4 out of 10, bolognese was a 5 out of 10, and the basic pasta (the easiest) for my vegetarian daughter was absolutely horrible, a 2 out of 10. It even included a nice piece of meat, which was a nice touch and a reminder of how we will never eat here again. I’m shocked the aggregate rating is around 4.0, so either drunks eat here or we managed to come on the night they had their backup to the backup team in the kitchen.
It’s a dive. Sometimes you find a gem of a place that could use a facelift. In this case, the ambiance reflects the quality.
