BEST bagels in CT hands down!! The owner is a cool guy. My favorite is the Spinach and artichoke bagel with scallion cream cheese. Today we got the cheese bagel with scallion cream cheese. Soooo Good.

I’ve driven by so many times but never stopped until today. It was a non stop errand day and this is the perfect stop when your busy due to the fact that it’s take and eat. No indoor seating made it super convenient. Drive up, order, go. Not a huge selection but it makes it so easy to order. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious, especially the cinnamon roll I ordered. The addition of the lemon zest in the frosting made it over the top and next time I’m definitely trying one of their yummy looking muffins.

I try to like Dekes time and time again and only continue to be disappointed. This bagel was half burnt/half raw. The egg was covered in black from the grill (I can appreciate a little of that for flavor but come on). I don’t even know what the soggy stuff is in between the 2 bagels halves. The people running the front wear gloves and handle money while simultaneously touching and handling food. Just disappointed. Nice people there but not worth the money.

Stopped in for bagels as a friend wanted a dozen and we got breakfast bagels too .. coffee , and two smoothies .
Great service and the bagels looked amazing , but the coffee wasn’t great ( quite bitter ) and the mango smoothie is still frozen solid after two hours ! So could have been better , hence the 4 stars rather than a perfect 5 .

Deke’s offers a good product; for example:
– The bagels taste great. I assume that they don’t use preservatives because the bagels get stale/hard quickly. You should buy and eat them on the same day.
– They offer interesting types of bagels. They’re usually sold out of the cool bagels unless you get there early in the morning.
– All of the cream cheese flavors that I’ve tried taste great.
Considering the price, Deke’s could improve its customer experience; for example:
– I once pre-ordered 30 bagels for my office. Rather than organize them in a box or two so you could easily see and pick which bagel you wanted, the staff piled them in a big paper bag; you couldn’t tell what was what. For a $70+ order, really?
– I once waited 10-15 minutes for a super simple order: three bagels (not toasted or pre-sliced) and a container of cream cheese. The place wasn’t that busy.
– I once opened my cream cheese container (advertised as a 4oz container) to find that it was only ~75% full (see pic). I felt scammed…

It’s no wonder there’s always a long line stemming out this place. The bagels are baked fresh and the staff are so friendly. Plenty of diversity in regards to flavors offered, with every bagel toasted to perfection.

Outdoor seating only (order at window). Extra price ($3.75 for a plain w/ cream cheese) . Bagels are bready, little good chew to them. Good ratio of cream cheese to bagel. Very good variety, also plenty of sandwiches and baked sweets.

I have been a loyal customer for the last 3 years. Every weekend ordering breakfast and cookies (they have the best cookies). Lately seeing the way the owner (Deke) treats his staff is very upsetting. The food really is very good, but his attitude toward people who work with him, not okay. Watching and hearing him yell at his staff (in front of customers) is unprofessional and frankly embarrassing. I understand the world is short staffed and that’s difficult to manage, but try kindness for people who show up to work with you.

Bagels are always great. Very disorganized. Last time they couldn’t figure out how to use the register. THIS TIME THEY FORGOT OR LOST OUR ORDER. 30 minutes for 2 bagels. Then they questioned if we paid. Hahaha. They were better when they were smaller.
