You come here for the ambiance! They didn’t have entertainment that Friday which I was sad about. But the river is gorgeous. The hot buttered scones were the best part! I got the chicken and shrimp combo. The shrimp was good and crispy, but there were just two pieces. The chicken had crispy skin too and was fine. Husband got the fresh trout. It was good. Fries were fine. The twice baked potato was actually just mashed potatoes, haha. Overall I’d go back. And you can smell the lilac tree . ($19 for mine and $18 for his).

We found out the hard way. Thankfully, my mother-in-law happened to have her checkbook.
The front door is not clearly marked. I wandered around back and found the back door.
The food was mediocre. The Trout, Chicken and potatoes were basic. The Prawns were cooked from frozen leaving them chewy. The soup was enjoyable, even if it tasted like gravy. The scones and onion rings, needed salt, were very enjoyable and made from scratch.
The fun came with the locale, history and serving plates. The crockery was old fashioned, if not outright old. Not but old in a bad way. This place reminded me of my grandparents home. Crockery plates and atmosphere thick with memories. The fish was served on a old fashion oval iron plate. The canyon, trees and rushing river was hypnotic and relaxing. The budding flower bush on the back deck smelled heavenly.
The music was a surprise as was the place itself. The drive is time travel, out of time and out of place. Anything and everything, including cell service and internet, are a distant thought in this hidden glen. It is family owned and operated. The daughter of the original owner helped our waiter, her son, serve us dinner. I might as well have been at a friend’s house eating dinner. James was very friendly and personable. Our visit was worth it just to meet him.

What a cute little restaurant. We came on an unfortunate day where they were very busy with few staff. However, it was still a great experience! The food tasted great and the servers, though very busy, were nice and did all they could to help. I personally had the roasted chicken and it tasted great! I have never been to the area and am not likely to be back for a long time but its worth the stop!

It is a very pretty place to eat. Has nice view of Creek and mountains. The food was OK nothing amazing. Staff was friendly. Make reservation so you can eat outside. OK place to eat if tou are in the area. I wouldn’t make a special trip to eat there.

How did this restaurant not make the Kitchen Nightmares lineup? I can’t begin to describe how vile the food was. We made the mistake of visiting with our family on Saturday August 2nd 2025, and by Sunday, most of the people in our family had food poisoning. The overprice meat was frozen. Frozen Chicken. Frozen steak. Why would ANYONE pay $28.00 for a frozen, bland steak? For the view? For a greasy scone? Here’s a tip. Save your money and go to McDonalds. Yuck.

This is the place for good food and ambience. Located next to Cub River and at the bottom of Deer Cliff provides a stunning experience. Even though my grandfather built the inn, once you visit, you’ll know that my description is not biased in any way. There really aren’t any words to describe the beautiful setting. Order the chicken dinner, you won’t be disappointed!

14 of us celebrated our friend’s birthday at this wonderful venue! The patio backs up to the rushing river & hillside and the ambience is magical! Highly recommended for a special occasion or anytime. Broasted chicken dinner was yummy. And those scones…oh so good! Service was excellent! All 14 meals were brought to the table one right after another which is challenging to do. Our group visits this area every summer and we will be making dinner at the Deer Cliff Inn an annual event. Thank you Deer Cliff Inn for a wonderful evening.
