The food was pretty solid, and it wasn’t hard to pick up the food once it was ready. Plus, there was a couple nice benches to wait for the order to be ready. Overall, would order from this spot again.
The Decatur food hub has a very cool concept of self-serving by ordering and scanning a QR code at a kiosk, and once you order is ready, you go to the appointed locker to grab your meal. Here are the negatives.
#1 those who work there just walk around sparingly with no interaction with the customers, which is probably the point because it’s a very “do it yourself ” type of environment. But it’s extremely confusing for first time customers, there should be at least one person at the front present to help those who have never been there understand how to order, or how to pick up.
#2 there are several vendors that work out of the location, so I can’t leave a negative review for all of the restaurants. I specifically ordered from PAIGE’S BISTRO after seeing their awesome advertisement on Instagram. Yes I am one of those, I will see an awesome post on social media and go and check it out to see if they live up to the hype.
#3 I ordered early around 11:50 a.m. so that I would have ample Time to go and retrieve my order, eat, and return to work by 1:00 p.m. for my order to get ready. I had to threaten to cancel the order and demand a refund just for one of the employees to finally pay enough attention to go and check on it.
#4 I ordered the “get’cha life” fries with the fish nuggets. The food was hot, but basic, it was definitely not worth an hour wait, unfriendly staff, and dealing with a confusing experience. Honestly, I probably will not be back. I will try the food hub again but maybe with a different vendor now that I have a better understanding of how the order and pick up works.
We also has some beignets, that did not make it home.
*Pic 2, 3, & 4: This is how it ended when I bit into Philly. IMMEDIATELY knew it was canned salmon (probably Double Q) when I tasted it. As a Pescatarian, I know quality seafood meat upon taste & sometimes smell.
To the untrained non everyday eater of salmon of seafood in general, the salmon philly here would be a good. But to the average eater or Pescatarian, you know IMMEDIATELY what you eat.
Shame on you, I dare the owner to dispute this review….you got the community eating overpriced shelf salmon. ($21 plus tax for $2-$3 can of salmon). SMH
*: Had to edit post only to upload full picture that philly was not eaten. When I balled it up in bag it looked smaller that what it was, so I pulled it back out to take full pictures.
Thai decatur is great but tried something else today and it was a horrible experience.
I ordered from village kitchen the first photo below shows their advertisement picture, but the second photo is what I received.
Requested a refund and spoke to a young man who wasn’t professional at all! He asked me to hold a minute then hung up on me.
If it hadn’t been for the great attention I received from the lady in the office I would not have been able to get a refund. My suggestion is don’t do it!
Following up on this matter, the owner lied to me about giving a refund. Further, because of this situation I realized that I don’t want to loose any more money to businesses that will not communicate with me when I encounter a problem. The young ladies sitting in the office when you first go into the building cannot help you with anything other than helping you find your food. Also, if you order food directly through their website you will need their help to find your food because the little boxes that open when you scan a QR code only work with and for food purchased through a third party food site like Grubhub or Uber Eats.
