If you’re a fan of MLK Deli in Congress Heights, you’ll love Deanwood Deli. With the same owners, the menus are the same, just a few different sandwich names. They sell wings, salads, and sandwiches.
Popping in for lunch with a friend, I ordered the Parkers Fried Chicken sandwich, which is a chicken breast drizzled with mumbo sauce. It was big and tasty! For $2.50, I added a bag of chips and their house made strawberry lemonade.
There’s a single table inside and lots of tables and chairs outside along the side. Street parking is easy and service kind.

What a pleasant surprise, I was working on a project near by, and thought to try this place, and i am glad that i did. I had the fish sandwich it is differently one of the best if not. THE BEST light is flaky inside crispy golden outside, and it tasted fresh light and amazing. Will be coming back for more.

So happy this place has finally opened! The wings are an easy winner in every flavor- they reheat perfectly in the air fryer for a late night snack. The crab cake sandwich is solid. The fried chicken sandwich is hit or miss- would like to see a crispier breading for the chicken. The fish sandwich was good. Their juices are sweet and make excellent mixers. Wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone watching their sugar or salt intake. Looking forward to seeing the patio space get some seating (hopefully also some shade sails too!)

This was our 1st time trying Deanwood Deli. We learned while standing in line that this deli is only a year and 1 month old based on today’s date, Friday, August 30, 2024.
This deli is small so you’ll have to take your food to go or you can sit outside at the tables when the weather is nice. The service was fast but on the other hand the man that took our order was a complete dust off for me. What I mean by that is, his attitude was not friendly. His attitude reads like “I’m just doing this because I have to pay bills.” He didn’t smile, make conversation, make suggestions, or anything. The most he said was, “You ordered the best sandwich.” It seemed as though he was flustered when we told him that our daughter doesn’t eat certain items, so, 86 the mayo and tomato. Our baby usually eats her sandwiches and burgers plain with nothing on them but the meat and cheese. So for her to take only 2 things off is growth for her. LoL!
The lemonade is disgusting!! *GaG!* I was going back to get something else to drink but my husband gave me his Pepsi to drink and he drank the lemonade. All in all, it was good. I’ve had much better food at other restaurants. It’s worth a 1 time try if you’re in the area.

TORCH! TORCH! TORCH! My first time trying their garden salad with salmon & LAWDDDD Food was fresh as well as the lemonade. Great customer service from all the staff. If your looking for some GOOD EATZ COME TO DEAN!!!

So happy to see this place open up! A great spot with some really great deli options. The staff were very friendly. The tuna sandwich was very tasty. The crab cake sandwich was a good size and also was delicious. The potato salad and cole slaw were also on point! Will be back!!

We were two lost tourists flailing around looking for something to eat and stumbled onto to this place. OMG the food was delicious. I had a crab cake and she had a fish sandwich. We were in town for 10 days and ate at a lot of different places and this was in the top 3 for both of us. Will definitely return.

1st time today. Went after church and got our food within 20 min of ordering. Saucey like my 2yo said! Sauce on the chicken sandwich was great. Lemon pepper is wet and we are LP dry folks so no judgment there. We got there close to closing on a Sunday and the only side available was fries. Will try again another time. The outside seating looked great and definitely will plan to come back and enjoy.
