Would give this place a negative 5 rating had that been an option. Met a friend I haven’t seen in over 40 years and wanted to get a drink together. We pull up to the Deadwood Tavern and see 7-8 people at least inside. All the lights were on including the open sign. Went to the first front door and it was locked. Went to the patio side door and it was locked too. A patron inside started to come over and open the door when the barmaid I guess told him not to. We’re standing out there for several minutes waiting on on them to decide what’s going on and they said they were closed. This was at 11pm and Google and the door sign said open till 2am! Truly pathetic to treat your customers this way! Such a lack of dignity and respect! Please don’t give these people a single cent of your money. I could see if we showed up 20 minutes prior to closing, but 3 hours before their listed times and also several people in there drinking. Show some decency and respect for your customers!!!

Love of the Deadwood runs in the family. My dad loved it as much as I do. Great place to go grab a beer and play some pinball. Pool tables there as well. Great deals, great staff, and great crowd. Can’t ask for more.

Fun bar with a great vibe. Everyone is so friendly. Great prices on beer and cocktails. Give a try to the excellent Bloody Mary they serve.

You have to love the Deadwood for all the memories we have there. If you are an underage student, don’t even try to get in. Originally an old biker bar that was located south of the Pentacrest where the Old Capitol Mall Building Stands today. Bikers used to drive their motorcycles through the front door. It changed owners a few times and evolved over time. Rich history and Iowa City landmark.

I love this bar so much but the new waiter ridge is always in such a foul mood and is mean but not in a cute or fun way!

I would patronize when next in town. Typical tavern with a half dozen TVs. Probably a college hangout.

One of a handful of establishments in this town with the balls to carry Malort. Don’t be a douche, and the staff will welcome and accommodate you. Act like a chud, and even one of the innumerable regulars might toss you out. And with cause.
