The menu is quite extensive and I am sure there is something for almost everyone.
The staff are super friendly and attentive. I started with the onion soup which was delicious and a generous portion. For mains, I opted for the scampis which were also excellent. I had hoped to sample the rice pudding for dessert, but I was too full!
I really want to come back here again next time I am in Antwerp.
For the main course, I chose the Brochette de Pottekijker — a huge skewer made of lamb, beef, and chicken, easily around 300–350 grams. If you visit, I’d recommend not eating too much beforehand, as finishing this skewer alone is quite a challenge. The taste and seasoning were excellent. It’s served with French fries.
The restaurant has Wi-Fi, but the connection isn’t very strong, and regular 4G signal doesn’t work well inside either.
It’s a small restaurant that truly surprises you—cozy, unassuming, but full of character.
Everything was super delicious, with the standout being the fish pot—absolutely mind-blowing! So creamy, rich, and bursting with flavour.
The service was also quick and very welcoming, adding to the overall great experience.
Highly recommend this hidden gem!
The food is consistently praised for its quality and taste. Classic Belgian dishes are the highlight here, especially the beef stew and grilled specialties. Portions are very generous — many guests mention that starters or even main dishes could easily be shared, which adds great value to the experience.
The service is another strong point. Staff are friendly, professional, and helpful, giving the restaurant a personal, relaxed feel that makes you want to stay a little longer.
The atmosphere is warm and intimate, making it feel like a true local spot rather than a touristy restaurant. Its central location near the Grote Markt makes it very convenient for visitors exploring the historic center. While prices can be slightly higher due to the location, many guests feel the quality, freshness of ingredients, and portion sizes more than justify the cost.
Because the restaurant is relatively small (around 40 seats), making a reservation in advance is highly recommended, especially in the evenings.
Overall, De Pottekijker offers excellent Belgian cuisine, warm service, and great value for money in a prime location. A lovely spot for anyone wanting an authentic and satisfying meal in Antwerp.
The service was exceptional—our waiter was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made great recommendations and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal.
Now, onto the food—absolutely delicious! The steak was cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavor. The seafood dishes were fresh and beautifully presented, and the portions were generous. We also tried the house-made desserts, and they were the perfect sweet ending to our meal.
Overall, De Pottekijker is a must-visit if you’re looking for a great dining experience with top-notch service, amazing food, and a cozy atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning!
✅ Pros: Cozy ambiance, excellent food, great service, good wine selection.
❌ Cons: Can get busy, so reservations are recommended.
Would highly recommend!
