The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a great place to enjoy a relaxed meal. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Service was smooth and timely without feeling rushed.
If you’re looking for a place with great food, good energy, and consistent quality, De Oro La Puerta is definitely worth a visit. We’ll be coming back to try more from the menu.
We have lived in the Diamond Bar/Walnut area for 40-years. We’ve eaten at De Oro many times, tried many different menu items, and we have never been disappointed.
I realize people have different tastes in food, different expectations, and different experiences when dining out. I feel bad for the folks who had a disappointing experience at De Oro.
The staff is always friendly towards us and if they are busy and running slow, they apologize to us and bring us more tortilla chips.
We know if there are a lot of customers or if they have a lot of to-go orders, it’s going to take more time than usual. We are old and retired, but not everyone has the time or patience to wait and they leave a negative review.
We have tried many Mexican restaurants in the area. I won’t mention the ones we didn’t like because, it’s a matter of personal taste.
Xavi’s in Chino Hills was my favorite, but I haven’t eaten there since before the pandemic. I expect they are still great. Pepe’s in Hacienda Heights, The Durango in Brea (they didn’t survive the 2020 shut down), the big Juancho’s restaurant in Ontario (I don’t know if they are still there), the small Juancho’s cafe in Chino Hills is good for a quick take-out (they used to be better before Covid and they had to remove the “help yourself” bean pot), The Whole Enchilada in Diamond Bar before the demographics changed causing them to shut down, and Kalaveras. I can’t be sure if it’s the food I like or the atmosphere. I always have fun no matter which one I eat at, but I particularly like the small hole-in-the-wall one in Montebello.
If anyone knows a better place in the area for Mexican food, I’d like to know.
