My family was so happy to buy breads and cakes from this bakery for years! We were proud to have fresh and delicious bread in the town. BUT the quality and freshness of the bread, cookies and cakes ARE NOT THE SAME! Sorry for the family that owned before. Better take their last name off this business.

So upsetting and disgusted to bite into a pastry and feel something hard and plastic like in my mouth to only see it looks like a piece of someone’s acrylic nail. Maybe it’s a sign to give up the donuts. Nonetheless a vomit worthy experience and am now completely turned off by this establishment which is saddening since I frequent De Filippis Bakery often.

I’ve been ordering a cannoli cake from here every year for my husband since it’s his favorite and this is the closest place to us that will do one. Each year, the cake ends up different. This year, they told me they couldn’t write on the cake because there were cannoli’s on top and I could choose to decorate it with the cannolis or have writing so I picked cannolis. So I went to pick it up and it was this huge plain cake, with two tiny cannolis. I asked if they could write happy birthday on it and they said no and that their tools were already clean for the day, so now I have to go out to buy a piping bag, frosting and food coloring to do it myself since it looks terrible as it is. It would have taken two minutes to pipe happy birthday on it. This was a $60 cake.

4 years ago I gave this bakery 5 stars. After today’s visit I had to change it. The service was horrible. I walked in and there were 3 workers behind the counter. Not one looked at me. The one girl is counting the tips, tbe other one was receiving a back massage from one of the workers on male workers from the back and the other one just had a resting b face. After a few minutes I was enlightened with “what do you want” ( i assumed she meant my order, sIo ordered my cookies. Instead if giving me the ones in the widow, she went and got the from another part if the store. The cookies were over priced and very dry. These are not the original owners, and you can definitely tell the difference both in service and quality of product. Was not tgood experience all the way around

When I resided in Middletown teenager years into adulthood some of my favorite items I enjoyed was cinnamon glazed twirl doughnuts assorted doughnuts and freshly baked Italian breads. Also randomly buying items they bagged up day or two day old baked goods at discounted prices. Don’t know if they still do this heard they are now under new ownership since it’s also been awhile since last stopping in at De Filippis Bakery.

We went there to pick up a pre-order for Easter. I must say that I was very impressed with the variety of Easter baked goods that they had. I will say that even though they were extremely busy they handled every customer very politely and in a timely.

The best st Joseph’s and lobster tails around. Even the Boston creme donuts are fabulous!! The help is friendly and patient and very knowledgeable. Great place.
