Update: upgraded to 5 stars from May visit.
Ate here on Friday 6/21/24 for 3rd time; once a month ago, and once last November. New chef, new staff, new menu. Everything was spot on and better than we expected. Chef Kevin, Server Sandra, Bartender Joy, and owner Chris were very attentive, hospitable, and friendly. Chef Kevin has perfected his culinary creativity to offer unique, mostly healthy dishes, and some traditional bar fare.
Fusion of American-Tex-Mex-Italian-Asian-contemporary cuisine. Full of life, energy, vitality, and color. Efficient service. Pleasant ambiance, clean space, delicious food & appetizing presentation. Two people in party, but ordered food to go BC so many dishes sounded good & not sure when we’ll be back.
Comparable prices to many venues, including casino restaurants, casual/finer dining, even some fast food. Variety of food/price options. They gave us card for 10% off next visit for Google review. New french fries are good too! Hearts happy, bellies full. Will be back again!
We ordered dine-in: Macadamia crusted salmon w/cilantro basmati rice & asparagus, Marinated Grilled Flank steak, with mashed potatoes, and asparagus. To-go: Crispy Corn Ribs with napa-kale slaw, Short Rib Flautas, and Fishin chips. Had 2 glasses of wine, 2 Heineken, and apple cobbler with ice cream. Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations!!
Ate here for the 2nd time on May 25th 2024 (4 stars):
Live music on the weekends by Michael J, friendly staff, and delicious food & drink (ordered the Santa Maria tri-tip with onion rings, basket of French fries with a tasty seasoning, a Moscow mule), and chicken wings with smokey BBQ & sweet honey BBQ to go. I asked for the fries to be lighter bc when we ate here last fall they were darker than I prefer. They were perfect, hot, crisp, and light. Everything was good, including the water. Waitress/bartender and owner Chris, checked up on me. I suggested to the waitress/bartender that customers might appreciate knowing that special vodka costs $2 more, since I don’t normally order drinks so didn’t know.
Total was $59 and change. Fries were $2 more than menu, but the owner easily changed it on bill.
Pleasant ambience, historical restaurant with beautiful woodwork, and appropriately decorated.
Bathrooms as clean as the restaurant!
I enjoyed the relaxing and peaceful yard/(beer) garden with many places to sit, socialize, listen to the birds, smell the fragrant roses, or play Cornhole or ping pong.
Will be back again!
They are open until 9:00 pm tonight, so stop by and support our local businesses.
We went there for dinner for their reopening, but was sadly disappointed. Had to ask server for everything twice, including toppings for our burgers (mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions). Fries and wings were good, burger was basic “burger king” burger. Total came to $90. Not prepared for that price for bar food and we probably won’t be back.
The weird smell you mentioned is most likely sewer smell from the bathrooms. I assume they let the water in the bathrooms dry up while they were closed and the scent came into the building from there. They need a good airing out of the building.
Where do I start? We had a super great experience. There are no frills, it’s very straight forward; drinks, simple appetizers like wings, with entrees of burgers and salads. The beer and drink menu could fulfill practically anyone’s desire. We ended up sitting outside, which was incredibly peaceful. The only thing I would like to see, or recommend, is a little extra sauce on the wings. I got the spring mix salad with caramelized almonds and raisins with their raspberry vinaigrette, while my bf got the bbq burger. The burger came with beer battered onion rings. Everything was fantastic and came out to our table promptly. My bf didnt have to say his beer on tap was good, the 3 refills did that for him. Overall, I totally recommend this place. The 1887 building had a nice atmosphere. I would like to get a beer and lounge at the bar next time.
Also, the blonde waitress we had rocked her job. She was running around taking care of everyone and didn’t miss a beat. I didnt get her name though.
Burgers were yummy, made from freshly ground Angus beef. Hone made fries.
Site of one of Marilyn Monroe’s films. Worth a visit!
