It’s a hole in the wall place but the food is great. I had the cheese burger and onion rings and they were awesome. My kid had the chicken sandwich with fries and he loved it! All together with an extra side of fries I paid about $26 so it wasn’t bad for the amount of food we got 🙂

We wanted a unique and local place. A hole in the wall if you will. The store front said this is it. When you walk in it doesn’t look like a sit down restaurant, and there aren’t many seats. Ms Dawson greets you from behind a wall and comes around to take your order. Plan to be patient as she cooks it fresh and is a solo operator. The burger was well worth the wait. Definitely give it a shot for lunch.. just don’t be in a hurry.

I went there yesterday because I had a taste for wings and I wanted to try something different. When I walked in, it reminded me of my great grandmother’s home by the smell. I tried to ignore and ordered my food. I sat down and leaned back in the booth and it almost went all the way back. The tables were sticky and the lady at the register was also the cook. She was scratching her hair and didn’t wash her hands. That was the last straw. I asked for my money back and left. Never going back

I stopped at Dawsons hooing to get homemade ice cream. Howeverthe ice cream palor portion was closed down. That didn’t stop me from checking out this hole in the wall (my kinda place). Ms. Dawson was extremely nice and patient wich me as i couldn’t choose between a burger or fried chicken. Im so glad i chose the chicken. Omgoodness!! She cooks everything to order. And i didn’t mind waiting, especially for fleshly prepared food. When she gave me my box and i popped it open, everything was placed with care and love!! I could tell she loved cooking for ppl. And i loved my food!! The wings and fries were perfecto!! Crisp hot and with a light batter that crunch when i bit into the wing and the fries piping hot lightly salted and so good! Not muxhy and sweated out. I enjoyed every bite. I tos Ms Dawson.. “Ms Dawson!!!! Ill be back!!” If you’re ever on 4th ave N and see the shop trimmed in red!! Stop in!! It’s just right for a delicious lunch or breakfast. Opened from 8-4.!!

Despite the previous feedback, a couple workers and I decided to give it a shot. We all got the double cheese burger and fries. The burger was pretty good. Fries were fries. One of our guys tried the wings, and they were standard. Don’t go if you’re in a rush. Let’s just say…. she makes it fresh for you.

More of a take out place. Food is delicious and you can’t beat the price. Service is always friendly and fast.
You can’t go wrong here. Everything has a touch of love you can taste in every bite.

Freshly cooked food, their wing are not left in a heater they are cooked to order their *HOT* wings sauce is actually descent,
The fries are plump golden and food is served HOT. Staff was nice and work focused. I would highly recommend.

An absolute hidden gem in the heart of Birmingham, and an utter disappointment in this town’s appreciation for soul and character to see this place empty during weekday lunch hour. Great food and great prices! A speakeasy of burger joints.

I’ve been to Mexico, Korea and other sketchy places. This tops them all. Dawson’s is an old sticky bar that someone (presumably Dawson) threw some old white fridges and a fryer into and called it a restaurant.
I was the only person in the place from 12:00noon until my food was finally ready at 12:45. I sat at bench and fell through. I bumped the table and it completely broke. The food could’ve made a goat puke.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.

It had a definite old town eatery vibe, which we loved.
Simple menu, but the old building was delightful to experience
