TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

They did a very smart thing. They added a new bowl or whatever you want to call it that includes mac & cheese and fries with their delicious chicken on top. I had visited a Dave’s before and they never had anything like this and they couldn’t make it for me so needless to say I was very happy to see it on the menu. And it tasted amazing and it was a gigantic plate for 15 bucks.

The tables were pretty dirty when we arrived, and our order came out wrong. To top it off, they charged a $1–2 fee just for requesting sauce on the side, which was honestly a joke. The chicken was mediocre at best and definitely overrated.

I got the Slider Roulette Box and let me tell you. The Reaper sandwich is NO JOKE!!! I only took 3 SMALL bites. Little bites. And im done. The Devil made that sandwhich and now my brain is on emergency mode while im scrambling around looking for milk. After about 20 mins of chaos in my brain and a few tears….i threw the sandwich out. Never in my life have i had somethinf that hot were my brain stopped functioning and i went full panic mode. THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT! Your food is awesome as always!!! Been here many times and you always have good stuff. But MAN!!! That Reaper messed my whole day up….

I recently visited Dave’s Hot Chicken and had a really enjoyable experience. From the moment I walked in, the place felt clean, lively, and welcoming. The staff was friendly, patient, and helpful when it came to choosing a spice level, and they made the ordering process easy. The service was quick, and even though they were busy, the food came out fresh and hot, which I appreciated.

I ordered the slider and tenders combo, and the chicken was outstanding. The tenders were thick, juicy, and perfectly crispy on the outside — you can tell they season the chicken itself and not just the coating, because the flavor runs all the way through. The sliders were just as good, with the sauce, pickles, and chicken all coming together in the best way. The spice level was exactly what I hoped for: bold, flavorful, and satisfying without being overwhelming. The chicken really shines and has that signature Nashville-style kick while still tasting rich and smoky, not just spicy.

The Dave’s sauce and pickles added the perfect balance, giving a creamy and tangy contrast to the heat. Every bite felt really well-put-together, and you can tell they take pride in the seasoning and quality of the chicken.

The only thing I would point out is the fries. They were hot and crispy, which is great, but the seasoning felt a bit light. Compared to the bold, flavorful chicken, the fries tasted a little plain and could use more seasoning to match the strong flavors of the rest of the meal. They weren’t bad just mild in comparison.

Aside from that, everything was excellent. The portion sizes were generous, the food was fresh, and the flavors were on point. Dave’s definitely lives up to its reputation for great hot chicken. I would absolutely come back and would recommend it to anyone who loves crispy, juicy chicken with real flavor and heat. With just a little more seasoning on the fries, it would be a perfect meal.

My first time eating at Dave’s Hot Chicken in Boynton Beach and as I go to open my plate I see slice bread. Not the toasted buns that all over the menu. Like really yall could have went to Publix across the street and got buns. I was really looking forward to trying the sliders on a bun. The tenders are so huge we need the bun or 4 slices of bread for just 2 tenders.

Really disappointed in the quality of the chicken. Far too much breading and the chicken was doughy. Not much flavor beyond salt and paprika. And why aren’t there any other hot sauces offered. Some of us despise sauces with a mayo base. Offer simple hot sauce as an alternative. Terrible quality food.
That said, the staff was very pleasant and hospitable and the decor of the place was fun and upbeat. Change the batter and sauce offerings and you’re on to something. As of now, I’m wondering how you were able to franchise a significantly inferior product to the many other chicken places out there. Zaxbys and Birdcall are two that come to mind.

Someone showed me some food they got from here and I’ve been thinking about it ever since! Decided to try it today finally and it was amazing! It was a really chill atmosphere and the food was really good very fresh even the bread was soft and fresh and all the food tasted great! I think I found my new favorite chicken joint! The prices are very fair you’re guaranteed to get full the portion sizes are great and the chicken is really thick and juicy I almost couldn’t even finish both sliders. I will definitely be coming back to try other stuff

Food was fried fresh which takes a bit but was worth it. Love that they have cauliflower as a vegetarian alternative for all dishes. Fries were well seasoned. The restaurant has some fun artwork and a cute patio spot.

Dave’s Hot Chicken – Opening Weekend Review
3 out of 5 stars

I was really looking forward to trying Dave’s Hot Chicken, but my first visit wasn’t quite the experience I was hoping for. To be fair, it was the grand opening, so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that things will improve with time.

The biggest issue? The noise. With a packed house and staff shouting out order numbers every minute — “Number 2221! Number 1442!” — it made it nearly impossible to have a conversation. The energy was high, but the chaos made it hard to enjoy the meal.

I ordered 2 sliders, fries, and a large drink for about $20. It was filling, and the chicken was good, but I was disappointed that the “medium” heat level had almost no spice at all. I was expecting a little kick.

I plan to come back in a couple weeks once the dust settles and give it another shot. For now, it’s a solid 3-star start with room to grow.

Tenders were delicious however the portion size of the meals was a bit lack luster. You’re paying about 5$ per tender (theyre huge but maybe 3.50 would be more reasonable) and the largest single person meal is a 2 tender meal. Needs to be more meal options maybe like a 3, 4 , and even 5 piece meal option. The next biggest meal option is a 10 piece which is 50$ . The 2 piece meal was like a snack to me and i am not that big. For reference I get a 2 cheeseburger meal from mcdonalds , medium with a coke and that satisfies me. Friendly funny staff and pretty good vibe to the place. Would be good if you have kids.
