TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

First time so I went with medium heat… Great taste but next time I’m going to get something hotter.
I will also say that there was an option to tip, which I don’t love given that no aspect of this restaurant is anything but self service.
The food itself was pretty wonderful. Perfect internal temperature and exterior fry, with that perfect granular seasoning texture that you would get from a Nashville style chicken fry.
The fries themselves were not super heavy, and I actually ate all of them. The Dave’s sauce was really good, but I particularly enjoyed the extra one dollar hot honey option. I thought that was worth it.
I will come again, and I’ll update the review if the service is a little bit different.
The staff were friendly, the service was quick, and the whole vibe was great. I’m genuinely happy this spot is now in my neighborhood. Can’t wait to come back and try more!
I ordered a 2 tender meal. Mac and cheese . And a regular topped off milkshake
Fruity Pebble topped milkshake ( would not recommend again ): . They only filled the cup with shake about 2/3 and then the other 3rd was fruity pebbles ( pictures below). The shake was more milk then shake, it was already half melted when I got it . You can see pre mixed and after mixed in photos .
MEAL . : I hit the medium tender and the hot tender . I could not make heads or tails which was which . They were both good ( decent heat ) . You have to like dry rub seasoning to really love the chicken . It comes off on your hands but its the powdery stuff. The fries were amazing . Pickles were a little thin but still had a great crunch. Nothing to go home about with the bread .
Mac and cheese side. : cafeteria Mac and cheese . Tasty but probably not with 4 dollars .
Overall for about 25 dollars I felt like this place was the 5 guys of chicken ( high price with 4 out of 5 quality ) .
The fries were dead cold……..
The temperature of all the food was very underwhelming rather than flavorful, and the sliders seemed thrown together with uneven portions of toppings. The service was slower than usual, and staff didn’t seem very attentive or engaged. For the price, I expected better quality and consistency. Overall, the experience didn’t live up to the hype, and I left feeling underwhelmed rather than satisfied.
I had to wait an approximate 10- 15 minutes for this crazy experience….
A to go water is clearly out of the question, If you want one you will have to fight for it.
I reached out, but only got a copy paste, maybe we will do better next time response. Clearly they don’t want return business at a new store. Or to make things right.
Don’t let the photo fool you…….. Lipstick can go on a pig….
And on top of that, I had even tipped the workers there.
