TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

Dave’s Hot Chicken is a chain of “Hot Chicken” fried chicken sandwiches, tenders, and other bites all based around hot fried chicken.
Service can get really busy, and the place is located in a smaller strip mall area, so parking can sometimes be bad.
The chicken itself is crispy, can be a bit dry but the spicy rub is good. The Dave’s sauce is good, pairs well with the chicken. The spiciness isn’t as apparent with lower levels but does ramp up, so be cautious if you can’t handle spice.

Went to Dave’s Hot Chicken recently, and overall, it was a mixed experience. The staff at the front were hustling, clearly under a lot of pressure, but they still managed to get the food out quickly, so props to them. It did seem like they could’ve used a bit more help though. Dining in wasn’t great—couldn’t find a clean table. As for the food, it was delicious but definitely on the pricey side for what you get (chicken, bread, and fries—pretty typical nowadays). If I went again, I’d definitely go for a spicier option because the “hot” wasn’t hot/spicy.

The service from the cashier Josh was incredible. He greeted every guest with kindness, patience, and clear communication. I watched him handle pickups, discounts, and even a last-minute order change with total professionalism. For a fast-casual spot, the level of training and hospitality here is always impressive. Great staff and great experience every visit.

The staff here was nice and the fries loaded with buffalo sauce and ranch met my expectations flavorwise. The problem was that I ordered the spicy buffalo mac&cheese dish, but it really should have been called the loaded saucy fries plate, as it was like 85% fries. Thier sign on the menu is very misleading as it boldy states “spicy buffalo mac&cheese”, and unless you read the fine print underneath you wouldn’t even know the dish came with fries. My plate only contained arout 7 or 8 small chicken nuggets and even less pieces of cheesy macaroni, which was the best part. This is a severe case of false advertising and needs to be addressed.

Came here as I was passing by on a roadtrip. Got my typical two sliders with fries and in typical Dave’s Fashion, it was delicious. What I appreciate is that despite the sandwiches itself being sliders and thus a little on the smaller side, the chicken itself is huge compared to the bread and filled with flavor/seasoning. I got both sandwiches hot but you can actually mix and match different spice levels which I think is a really cool option. Only thing is that I ordered a chocolate milkshake with oreos and they gave me a vanilla with Oreos but I didn’t care enough to confront them about it as the milkshake was still great. We were lucky to get a parking spot but I imagine that parking can be a little annoying at this spot with the spaces constantly being filled up. On the bright side, the bathroom was pretty clean.

First time at Dave’s hot chicken. I found the place to be like any other fast food place Shell. Very limited menu. I’m thinking they don’t use any chicken breast. All day sandwiches and meals are with chicken, tenders, and they are huge. But don’t be mistaken, you’re paying for that huge portion.

If you love spicy, crispy, flavorful chicken, this is your place. The chicken has a perfectly crispy exterior and tender, juicy meat inside, served with their signature Dave’s sauce. They offer seven heat levels, from “No Spice” all the way up to “Reaper,” so there’s a level for everyone!
I highly recommend the Sliders or the Tenders alongside their crinkle-cut fries. And don’t forget the shakes—they are SO good and absolutely electric ⚡! Just be sure to watch out for the sugar. The staff is warm and attentive, and the value is fantastic. A definite must-try in Newton Nexus!
