This is the kind of restaurant I want to come to every day. The food, the staff, and even the fellow diners were delightful. The tenderloin here may be my new number one. Not too thin, well breaded and fried to perfection while staying moist and tender. I will have to come back several times to confirm Darrell’s Place as my favorite tenderloin.

Went for pork tenderloin sandwich very reasonable price. Girlfriend had open face turkey with gravy an mashed potatoes. Pies fresh daily. Excellent. Great and friendly service.

Darrell’s Place in Hamlin, IA is a great Mom & Pop place with great food. If it’s your first visit, do yourself a favor and go with their award winning Breaded Tenderloin Sandwich (the onion rings are pretty good too)
The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is that grandma’s kitchen, family gathering kind of vibe. If you’re going for lunch, go early because it gets busy!!!

As first timers, we can confirm every positive review! The food was amazing, service excellent and an all around great homey atmosphere, even for the pit of towers. And, GET THE PIE!! Don’t think twice, it’s worth the trip!

I dont think there’s a better mom and pop sit down restaurant in the area. Not to say there’s not flaws. But it does food and service better than most others. The only reason for the 4 stars in food is the drinks. Cans are not the best way to serve soft drinks. I always feel constricted while drinking a pop with my meal without traditional “refills” as an option. Other than specifically the pop I have 0 other issues with this place. They’re food is always fantastic. Staff is always friendly and I would always recommend coming out here.
