My husband and I ate here for dinner on 1/21/26. We were on an overnight getaway and found the resort as a perfect place for us to stay. We were so appreciative of having this tavern onsight and available for late dinner.
We ordered the hamburger steak meal and the fall salad.
Both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
I especially enjoyed the baked mac and cheese and the green beans with bacon (recommended by the server!) The salad was as expected, and the bacon especially very tasty!

Northern Virginia
The food here was amazing! We had a party of 8 and everyone commented on how great the food was. This place is a hidden jewel. I wish our town had a restaurant like this. The fried pickles were wonderfully breaded/fried, the club sandwich (lots of meat), and my daughter loved the pretzel bites. My husband said the burger was great! You can’t go wrong here, the food is authentic. If we had a longer stay I would have wanted to try more items on the menu. If you stay at the Berry Hill Resort, it’s steps away from your hotel room :).

My wife and I were in town for a wedding recently and our stay was phenomenal. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed exploring the mansion. The salmon dinner was delicious and my wife loved the chicken pot pie. Lexi and Melanie were so gracious and their service was wonderful. We look forward to another visit soon.

Melanie was absolutely amazing! She made our entire experience unforgettable. We had a party of 20, and she handled everything with grace, professionalism, and such a positive attitude. She was attentive, friendly, and made everyone feel taken care of. Having her as our bartender was truly a joy for our entire group. She kept things running smoothly and brought such a great energy to our night. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

So I recently moved to town and am so happy I found this place. Darby’s Tavern is a cool place to eat, drink and hang out. There are 4 different rooms in the tavern, plus the bar area, all decorated very cool, and one even has a FREE pool table! The manager, Crystal, is so accommodating and helpful. She even went out of her way to get diet tonic just for me! Now that’s what I call customer service. Such a pleasant atmosphere. The food is top notch here also. They have the BEST jalapeno poppers I have ever had in my life! The wings are outstanding, burgers are on point! If you haven’t been and are ever in the area plan a stop here.

Great little spot to get a drink and a nice bite to eat. Staff is super friendly and attentive – especially Crystal – atmosphere is beautiful and relaxed. This has become our go to spot. Always a smile when we walk in the door. There are 4 different rooms with their own feel, the bar is relaxed and laid back, there are 2 rooms to sit and eat, there is a room with a free pool table and the fourth room has room for a large private party. Such a fantastic place to visit for the atmosphere, history, and the food and drinks.

We stayed at Berry Hill over Labor Day weekend as a simple get away from everything trip. The atmosphere inside the tavern is fantastic, as is the outside dining. We ended up eating here 5 times during our long weekend. The food and drinks were great, and the servers were very attentive. We will definitely eat here the next time we stay at Berry Hill.

First and last time I will be eating there.
Pros- Food was delicious.
Cons- $15 Shrimp Po Bo had 4 pieces of shrimp on it. Also the $10 jalapeño poppers had only 4. That’s annoying. But it’s just that kind of place.
But the one thing I can’t forgive is the one and a half hour wait for our food to come. Which the waitress blamed on another table that had spent $400. Not sure what she was saying there. Our measly $140 bill for the table was inferior to theirs? So our service wasn’t going to be as good?
Or was she blaming the other table for them being slow? Maybe that made the kitchen slow. But what was her excuse for not checking in on us?
TLDR: Food tasted good. But terrible service mixed with underwhelming portion sizes and then adding in an excruciating wait time equaled one of the worst experiences I have had in a long time. Absolutely terrible.

Had one of the worst dining experiences of my life last night with the rudest, most unprofessional bartender I’ve ever encountered, Melanie. She was incredibly belligerent even after I apologized and admitted my mistake by taking a dish that I assumed was mine. The rest of my party had been served and was almost done while I’d waited quite a while for just a simple appetizer that seemed to be sitting in front of me on a tray, getting cold. I said I was sorry, but she continued to loudly berate me for my mistake. I had heard the service had really gone downhill, but that was completely unacceptable. Also, I wouldn’t want my food sitting out on a table in a bar with people just walking around it. Gross. The night was ruined, yet I made a point of tipping over 20% because other people were working and not being hateful. Hope they don’t split tips.
