This mountain-top venue is a unique ski-in-ski-out destination that offers spectacular views. Please note the Backside Bistro will be open everyday until March 18th, then will close for the 25/26 season. During ski season, both full-service dining and cafeteria food service are available. During the summer, the venue is used for weddings and special events.

FUTURE BRIDES BEWARE
One of my friends had the MOST beautiful wedding at Dante’s at Purgatory Resort, a place where MANY are waitlisted to get married here.
The venue, gorgeous, the ceremony outside gorgeous. Let’s talk about the reception and why Purgatory is getting 1 star from me.
There is absolutely no reason that the kitchen should’ve been asked not once, but TWICE to please wait until the end of speeches to resume cleaning because THE ONLY thing you could hear after dinner during speeches WAS THE KITCHEN. There is no way being that close in proximity and the fact that they work there, that they definitely know how loud the kitchen can get.
I asked for them to give us 20 minutes until we’re on the dance floor, another guest actually went and yelled at them 5 minutes later. I did not agree with this approach, yet the employees still did not stop banging plates and pans in the sink as well as the loud conversations. Employees were rude, did not stop interrupting and being loud. It was extremely disappointing as my friends GUEST, so you can only imagine how embarrassed she felt on HER day because of YOUR staff.
Additionally, we double checked what our selections for the dinner, they served MULTIPLE people the wrong item. More than 5 of us have it documented that we ordered the steak, and they provided 4 of us with chicken. They wouldn’t bring out more steak, and argued with wedding guests about it as well.
Highly unprofessional, I know how much my friends paid to have their wedding at Purgatory and the ONLY part that made it worth it was the view.

This is the best mountainside ski lodge restaurant up to in a very long time. I just couldn’t get enough of the double cheeseburgers.
The double is not on the menu, so just make sure you ask for it.

Lots of stairs to climb for food and seating on a crowded day! I did appreciate that they had a couple different food options such as burgers or burrito bowls or ramen, etc.

Awful, we waited 40 minutes to find out they ran out of ingredients and decided to not tell us while other people got their food. Our food was sitting under a heating lamp. When we got the food it was burnt, dry and was obvious it sat there for a long time. We would have appreciated if they said something first so we could change our orders. Waiting another 20 minutes wasn’t worth $35.

One of the all-time great views from the upstairs bar. Food at Backside Bistro can be very good when it’s on. Hit or miss menu on the main floor, served cafeteria style. Red beans & rice and chili downstairs at Dante’s makes a hot ski day lunch. Good beer selection. Prices are high as you’d expect for a ski resort, wish the consistent quality was there to match.
