Danphe in Hobart is a real gem for anyone craving authentic Nepalese and Indian flavours. On my visit, I tried both the vegetarian thali and the non-vegetarian thali, and I was genuinely impressed.

The vegetarian thali was beautifully balanced , generous portions of rice, three different vegetarian curries, saag (spinach), aaloo ko achar (spiced potato pickle) and crispy pappadum. Each element was full of flavour, well-spiced, and left me feeling more than satisfied. The portion size was hearty and perfect for a wholesome lunch or dinner.

The non-vegetarian thali was just as delightful, with tender, aromatic curry , perfectly cooked dal and rice, and a colourful assortment of sides that showcased rich, authentic spices without overwhelming the palate. It’s a great way to sample multiple dishes in one go and really appreciate the kitchen’s skill with traditional recipes.

What also stood out was the warm and friendly service , staff were attentive and happy to explain the dishes. The casual, cosy atmosphere makes Danphe a great spot for a relaxed meal in the city.

Whether you’re vegetarian or a meat lover, Danphe’s thalis are a delicious and satisfying choice in Hobart , packed with flavour, generous in size, and a perfect introduction to Nepalese/Indian cuisine. Highly recommended!

Absolutely delicious thali! Every dish was full of authentic flavor and perfectly spiced. The curries were rich, the rice was fragrant, and the bread was fresh and soft…
A complete, satisfying meal—highly recommended..

Good curry and naan bread. The samosa chat was very flavorful. Prices and portions are reasonable. Good selection of Nepalese food which I am keen to come back to try.

Only writing this because this will be my second disappointment from the restaurant regarding their food quality.

Just had a shittiest experience at the restaurant today.
I had heard the quality of food had degraded but didn’t expect it to be so bad. We had Veg chowmein along with some other foods, none of them were upto eating standards.
Veg chowmein didn’t have veggies on it, and the noodles used on the chowmein were not even chowmein noodles. It felt like we were eating overcooked chau chau noodle.

Naan curry, the gravy in the curry didn’t have a good taste, it had a very dull flavour.
Chicken Biryani was dry and flavour less.
Chicken momo was okay atleast edible.

I used to suggest Danphe was best Nepali food restaurant in hobart but i can proudly say it has become worst. Please try and explore other places if you are planning to visit here as you surely will be disappointed.

Clean toilet in the complex but you have to take keys from the counter to use it.

Went there twice and will definitely recommend.

I visited Danphe Nepali Restaurant with my brother and two friends during a very short one-day trip to Hobart, and we all had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was welcoming.

One of the staff members working the Saturday, 11 January afternoon shift really stood out. I didn’t get a chance to ask her name and thank in person as she was quite busy when we were leaving, but her warm personality and beautiful smile left a lasting impression. I’m leaving the city today, and this review felt like the only genuine way to say what I didn’t get the chance to say in person.

If she happens to read this, I just wanted her to know she made someone’s short trip to Hobart a little more special. I hope the owner can kindly pass this message on to her.

Thank you for the great hospitality, highly recommended.

The food is absolutely delicious and authentic, the Momos are being prepared fresh as we watch. The best Nepalese food I’ve had in Australia. The staff are pleasant and courteous. Highly recommended.
The vegetarian options are tastier than the non-veg and highly recommend going that route

It’s a small restaurant in prime location in city. Very friendly staff, for all the dishes they do offer three different level of spicy: Mild, medium and spice (never order spicy unless you love green chillies :P)

1. Malai Kofta: HIGHLY RECCOMEND – Potato and cottage cheese fried fitters in the creamiest tomato sauce are one of most popular dishes.

2. Momo Platter: RECOMMEND – if you intent to try all variety of momo’s they serve go for this item. It contains Steam Momo, fried, pan-fried and c-Momo.
C-Momo’s are fried momo’s in spicy sauce with capsicum and onions. My personal favorite is Steam momo. (They also serve half and half plate of momo i.e., half veg and half non-veg)

3. Veg Chowmein: RECOMMEDED – Spicy noodles with adequate amount of vegetable in it. It’s a good replica of the chowmein serve by hawkers in India. however, the noodles used are a bit different and not that soft and chewy. The quantity is pretty good for the price.

4. Cheese garlic naan: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- it’s so cheese and the perfect amount of garlic that you don’t need any curry with it.

5. Rasmalai: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED- They serve the best rasmalai in town. It’s a sweet of cottage cheese balls soaked in thickened, sweetened milk with cardamom and saffron.
