I stumbled upon this gem in Oyster Bay by accident but so glad I gave them a try. This is an authentic Japanese restaurant with great service, delicious and great quality food and above all caring owners who operate the place with much love. Try the Tacos, the Ramen and the mushrooms. Every item we ordered was delicious and prepared to perfection. Last but not least, leave room for dessert especially their home made creme brule.

Hats off to the chef! FINALLY a japanese restaurant on the island that is more than your run of the mill sushi. LOVE that I no longer need to head into the city to get my izakaya on. Sometimes you just want a little bit of everything and this is just the place for that. Loved the tuna tower, tako yaki, and ramen!

Great Japanese restaurant right in the heart of Oyster Bay. Small focused menu but you can still get Ramen, bao buns, takoyaki and more. Even has crepe cakes. I’ve been to Izakayas in Japan and this definitely had a similar cozy feel. Will definitely be coming back regularly.

Definitely not authentic Japanese and extremely overpriced for underwhelming food. The menu was small and had little to no variety. The cost of the rolls were expensive for what we got, with a mediocre quality of fish (Salmon Avocado for $10; Tri-Color w. Salmon, Tuna, and Avocado for $13). I would more expect these prices with special rolls. These basic rolls were very small for the price. The spicy miso garlic wings were unevenly coated, lacked flavor, and were not spicy at all. The waitress was very chatty (not in a good way) and interrupted us multiple times when we were in the middle of a conversation to discuss the construction out front and passing fire trucks. Nothing to rave about and a no go for people who love and appreciate authentic Asian cuisine.

We found this place in the spring and now it’s become our Friday night end of week ritual.
The Bao Buns(sometimes soft shell) are more than delicious. Both types of tacos are great. The Tuna Tower is perfection. My wife loves the ramen bowls. The service is great and Randy (one of the owners) is always welcoming and personable.

Really great to have a true izakaya style spot on the island. Prices are quite high for portion size, but are definitely fresh, delicious, and artfully crafted. The head bartender seems like he will keep churning out some delicious and unique cocktails for their special menu.

If you’re looking for an authentic Japanese Izakaya experience, this is not the place for it.

I saw a new Japanese izakaya opened pretty close to me, so I decided to give it a try, thought if it went well I would save so much time in the future by not going to queens or nyc.

I was very disappointed with my experience. First of all, the menu was wrong. The pork soup ramen should be Tonkotsu not Tonkatsu, one is soup and one is fried pork cutlet, two very different things. At first I thought hey it’s a new restaurant maybe they just didn’t proof read and had a printing error, but I was wrong, even the server pronounced it as tonkatsu. That was when I knew this place had no idea what they were doing, they didn’t even train their server right. And when the ramen was here I was quite disappointed with the broth, not really that flavorful and far from other tonkotsu ramen I’ve had in actual Japanese restaurants. But the ramen was cooked perfect so I’ll give you that.

Second of all, the shrimp tempura was not even tempura. A shrimp tempura is deep fried shrimp coated in batter. The fried batter texture should be fluffy and light, and the shrimp should have cut slits on the belly side and press down well, so the shrimp is very straight and will not curve when cooked. What I got instead was deep fried breadcrumbs coated shrimp with a curve. If you’re not going to use a batter to fry the shrimp, do not call it tempura, just call it deep fried shrimp. The shrimp was very fresh so that is a small plus.

Overall the experience was pretty awful on the food aspect. The service was really nice and I could tell the ingredients were good, hence the 2 stars. The price was on the higher end and similar to some of the places in nyc, but I would’ve got so much better and authentic food in nyc.

I would not go back to this place until they change their menu or decide to hire a better chef. Good ingredients does not always equal good food, the cooking process is just as important. Again, in the mean time, if anyone is looking for a true Japanese izakaya experience, go somewhere else, this is NOT the place.
