A little surprise for this out of town guest of Castine during Thanksgiving holiday. Stuck in MMA residence for dinner with my son. Pizza is great and the loaded fries are hopefully to stay on the menu forever.

What a beautiful little location a beautiful spot in the world is my first time in Maine and I have truly enjoyed the hospitality at this location. The blackened chicken Caesar salad was awesome. The lady that was bartending wasn’t quite a bartender however she delivered phenomenal service. And when I come back to visit my husband’s family, we will come back. Hands-down.

Our first visit to Castine to check out Maine Maritime Academy for my son. It was the only place open in town for dinner and we just traveled three hours to settle in and have a good meal. We really wanted to like this place as the atmosphere, right on the waterfront seemed historic and fun. We also figured if it’s pub food? How can you mess that up!? The place had two people at the bar and one table of four when we walked in. We got served in a relatively quick manner but, quickly found just one more table walking in left the staff with their hands tied. I got a burger with no bun and I added bacon my burger, which cost me $21.00 with rosemary fries (the only thing they cooked right.) Now, I’m a single Mom, I’m not made of money, this was supposed to be a treat for me and my son. My son and I were polite but, all he had for dinner was fries by time we finally got our food his pulled pork sandwich was boiling hot, I guess from being in a microwave for so long and the meat was literally drowned in sauce. The meat that was in the sandwich was not edible, mostly pieces of fat and he took one bite and only had fries for dinner. That sucks. As I mentioned we were polite but, this is a JUST review. We waited forever to get our bill even though there was only a total of at that point two people at the bar and a four top plus us, the waitress who gathered up our plates and saw the barely eaten pulled pork had no questions as to why it was still on the plate and why we weren’t taking it home. All I can tell you is highly overpriced and the cook is not a chef- just horrible. Probably a better place to belly up to a bar and get drunk but, don’t waste your money on their food! Head up the street to The Breeze where they know how to cook and with fresh food to boot.

Local landmark. Attracts old-timers, college students, and anyone who values good food, cold beer, and a cheerful staff. Rub shoulders, converse, or play pool with the folks who make Castine such a great town. The chicken quesadilla is delicious. Highly recommend this place!

Things were great until I paid for music, and they turned the music all the way down.
It was the grumpy man in my photos. So rude.
After telling them about not being able to hear it, they turned it all the way off.

Our dinner stop for our first first night in Castine. We were surprised not to see fish and chips at on Irish pub on the water but hey they had a veggie burger. Which was fine and the Mac and cheese bites were a hit. A mixed selection of beer and some wine. We were in early but I’m sure it gets hopping later at night.

Great location, good energy, and the pizza we got was very delicious- the vegetables on top were super fresh, and everything was perfectly made. Perfect pre-kayak dinner spot!

This was a really pleasant surprise. Unassuming and popular with the (mostly seasonal?) locals, we went on a Tuesday evening…. It was pumping because of Taco Tuesday, which was good value. Kind of sad we didn’t stump for the pizza, which looked amazing – we had tacos instead. They were okay, but a little bland for my palate. Still, they could be livened up with the optional extras. Excellent range of Maine beers and ciders, with several in tap. I am pretty sure, we’ll try the pizza next year. We anchored off Indian Beach and took the dinghy across, which doesn’t take long at all ages tied up at the town dinghy landing.

A friend and I went down to Danny Murphy’s last week. I live locally and he’s from away. Both of us were craving pizza/wings.
He got wings which he said were excellent. I had the pot stickers , excellent/no complaints. We ordered a simple Pepperoni Pizza that too was excellent. Both of us had drinks and everything totalled less than $50.00 which was nice.
Our only complaint was that it was very hot inside. There is no A/C. It’s an old building and almost impossible to add A/C: NOT the owner’s fault. I would add a few more fans if possible? We would’ve stayed but both of us were sweating still Five Stars from both of us.
