Reviews
after my lunch at the Munchen
Haus and was a little disappointed.
It was a little busy and I
wanted to try a piece of
apple strudel with a cannoli,
a almond kringle, and a pretzel.
The bakery has a large selection of Danish pastries, apple turnover, cinnamon bread, Bavarian waffles, and much more.
The pretzel tasted like a
big piece of soft bread and
was bland.
The chocolate cannoli had
nice taste to it and was very
good.
The apple strudel was a little
sweet and the filling was soft.
The almond kringle had a nice
balance of flavors.
You will also find a large
coffee menu, speciality
drinks, Italien soda, and
other drinks.
Located on Front Street
in Leavenworth near the Munchen Haus.
The bakery has a large selection of baked goods
that are not great, but
average with friendly service
and a nice location.

Worth stopping in but don’t expect a huge variety.
Note they charge 50cents for any credit or debit card (and no Amex)
Btw they don’t have restroom.
I got a lemon pastry. It was stale, had a weird texture that I wasn’t expecting, and tasted like it was made with lemon curd from a tin can. It was thoroughly underwhelming. My friend was also underwhelmed with her food. The food was cheap, but I would have preferred to pay more for food that was decent.
The staff members were polite, but seemed like they were rushing people through as fast as possible. It wasn’t a very inviting experience.
The pastry was very light and flaky, with a rich raspberry filling. The filling wasn’t overfilled which was nice, and the rich flavor made each bite taste like the perfect ratio of berry, softness, and crispy buttery turnover. The top was covered in swedish pearl sugar and gave it a pleasant crunch and some extra sweetness. Well worth the five dollars.
The macaroon was surprisingly soft and pulled apart to reveal a very moist and creamy center. It had a strong vanilla-cream taste to it and was also quite good. It is nothing like the dried out macaroons you will find at grocery stores. I was hesitant to pay $3 a cookie for more than one, but after trying it I think I should have gotten a few more.
The service was good, but only one worker who seemed tired and a little stressed. The line was moving slower than it should in a bakery and I think they really need to have another barista helping out.
The store, while cute and matching the towns Bavarian theme, was very small and you had to pardon your way through the line to see the second glass case, then pardon your way back to get in line. Not much seating. I think they could benefit from a different layout in the store where you see all the displays before finally ordering. And the floor space is so little that even if there was seating available I wouldn’t have wanted to sit inside because there would be customers looking over your shoulder the whole time.
But if you’re planning on just going in, ordering, and leaving then this place is great! Delicious every bite!
