A local favorite since 2019 – this menu touches upon every asian-american cusine imaginable (ramen, sushu, dimsum, beef noodle, boba). Sometimes a line, but being a big place (it is central NJ after all), its never too long.
So whats good here?
The service. It is not normal to have such solid polite wait staff, and the management checking in with everyone during their meal (for an asian run place). I was impressed.
Tuna Tartare was deliciously covered in some wasabi mayo and green roe-like toppings.
Salt & Pepper chicken was nicely fried and topped with light seasoning, and not too msg-y.
Lychee boba wasn’t bad… And we are boba snobs.
The disappointments were the main dishes.
Beef Noodle Soup, like everyone else here, was NOT the slightly spicy, very umami, tender noodles you would hope.
And the wonton noodle soup also had a light broth, which was fitting for this particular entree. Water dumplings were good, but noodles seemed manufactured and felt like a carb overload.
However, the menu is expansive and alot more to try in the future.

Love it here. There are so many options for even the pickiest of my friends. I had a perfectly cooked steak skillet. My husband had fresh sushi and sashimi it was delicious.
Hibachi dinners were spectacular and special dietary accommodations were a breeze. The servers were attentive and kind. Can’t wait to go back!!

I say this with respect to the service and staff – the food was simply not good. We ordered fried pork dumplings (they were fine), pork buns (that never came), a hot and sour soup (that teetered between having no flavor and slight hints of beef?), a fried chicken udon (which was also just okay), and a tonkotsu pork ramen (which smelled wrong, tasted like fish, and the pork had that reheated meat flavor). Genuinely will not return, and in the 4 years of us dating this takes the cake easily for worst dinner we’ve had together. Again, staff was kind and seated us quickly, the atmosphere and decor was nice. Things can only go up from here I suppose.

Dan Zai is a superb option for a variety of Asian dishes. Ramen. Sushi. Dim Sum. Poke bowls. Japanese curry. Tempura. There is something for everyone. They even have vegetarian ramen options. You can’t go wrong with any of their menu choices. The service was quick and efficient. Noticed they were doing a very brink takeout business while we were there. That’s always a good sign. Very highly recommend.

This cute and casual spot lets your taste buds tour parts of Asia and the Pacific without leaving your seat. From ramen to poke bowls, soupy steamed buns (XLB) to natural-tasting and delicious boba tea, this restaurant is perfect for a date and families who love to share (or pretend they do). Their Fried Radish Rice Cake- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside- impressed my kids who tried it for the first time and the rest of us who’ve had it at dim sum places. Then their Taiwanese Style Noodle Soup was just soup-er with tasty ground pork, shrimp, shiitake fish ball, and soy egg. I highly recommend Dan Zai for anyone who wants to eat their way through Japan, China, Hawaii, and Taiwan- no passport required!

My absolute go-to for poke bowls. The Hawaiian combo just has all the right textures and flavors for a poke bowl and the fish is always fresh. It’s a pretty big portion but at a fair price. Sushi bar is great too. (I ordered these bowls all on different occasions, and haven’t included every single one. It hits the spot every time!) Also good sashimi

I recently dined at DAN ZAI RAMEN and had a delightful experience. We ordered the chicken tempura sushi roll and chicken wings, both of which were excellent.
