The food is good but nothing special or extraordinary. Solid 4 starts for xiao long bao, short ribs fried rice (meat was a bit fry and plain). Dan dan noodles were so so. In general it’s a good place to eat once but I would go eat somewhere else, there are frankly better places with Chinese food.
Anyway, it worths trying. The restaurant seems clean and waiters are nice.

I had lunch yesterday at Dan Modern Chinese. I ordered the chicken fried rice. The waiter brought my food, but I wasn’t paying close attention because I was deep in thought, working on a business project on my phone. As I started eating, I realized I had shrimp fried rice instead of the chicken fried rice I originally ordered.
I was confused and thought maybe I had mistakenly ordered the shrimp fried rice since I’d been distracted on my phone. About five minutes later, the waiter returned and informed me that he had given me the wrong order. I told him I had already started eating the shrimp fried rice. He said I could keep it, but I told him I still wanted the chicken fried rice I had originally ordered. He said that was fine.
Several minutes later, after I had eaten about a third of the shrimp fried rice, a waitress came up to me and said that if I kept it, I would have to pay for it. I explained that the waiter told me I could keep it without paying, but she insisted that if I kept it, I would be charged. I told her I had already eaten part of it but still wanted my chicken fried rice, and I handed the shrimp fried rice back to her.
I thought it was extremely petty for them to take back the dish after I had already eaten from it. What did they plan to do with it—put it back in the pot? I hope they didn’t serve it to another customer. Maybe they threw it away, but that would still be wasteful. This country already produces more waste than any other country in the world.
The whole situation struck me as very unprofessional, and I told myself I would never return or spend another dime at that place.

I just had it today. This restaurant, to me, is a”white-folks-friendly” spot! The food is “Sweet”, I was expected to have what it called “ modernized” Chinese cuisine , unfortunately, I don’t like it. The only item I ordered is a Mediocre Okay-okay one , the Xialongbao ( Soup Dumpling) I ordered 3 pcs Chicken and Shrimp , it is okay okay temperature, okay taste and okay display. Other than that, NOT Recommended. That Dan Mein thing is so sweeeeeeet. White folks for sure will love it. But not me. Sorry !!!!!!!!!

I know about Dan from the one in Playa Vista, I think I like both but prefer this branch better. In terms of the restaurant setting, this one is very spacious, clean and well-lit (not too bright nor dark). Customer service was top-notch, very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. I much prefer that the waiters/waitresses know if there are onions on any given dish, and this branch didn’t disappoint. Thank you for training your employees well. In terms of pricing, I thought they did price their dishes fairly, so cheers to that!
Anyhow, it’s time to talk about the food! These are what we ordered on our last visit (I will state if I recommend the dish or not:
– Dan Dan Noodles: flavorful, noodle textures are chewy and tasty, mushrooms and steak are juicy. (Recommended)
– Popcorn Chicken: Good appetizer, crispy and flavorful. The sauce taste kind of like honey mustard mixed with mayo? Yummy! (Recommended)
– Pea Sprouts w Garlic: This is my dish of the day. Pea Sprouts are hard to find (in grocery stores as well as restaurants), so I was hoping this would be great and it didn’t disappoint! (Recommended)
-Shrimp Fried Rice: What makes a good rice plate? Not the soggy ones. Thankfully these aren’t, very flavorful and I enjoyed the shrimp! I enjoyed their fried rice so much that when there were 2 spoons worth of fried rice left I still asked for to-go box for it. (Recommended)
– Pork and shrimp dumplings: Taste pretty good. My girlfriend loved it. I just personally find dumplings to be alright. However if you love fried dumplings, this is awesome! (Recommended for dumpling lovers)
Overall, my dining experience here was great and if you happen to be shopping at the Manhattan village, you must try this restaurant and then you would be coming for more!

Shrimp and shishito peppers had sickeningly a thick sauce, but tasted fine.
Dumplings seemed doughy.
Scallion pancakes are enjoyable if you like deep fried stuff.
Their veggies however are delicious.
I also recommend you ask for a side of mustard if you like spicy.
Service was nice and attentive and they only forgo lt one dish.

Went there for dinner on a Thursday night at around 6pm with a group of friends. When we walked in the manager greeted us and was very welcoming. Since it was early it wasn’t too busy so we were seated right away. The interior is very new with modern design and the vibe was very relaxed. There were a lot of families out to dinner with their kids. Our server Anthony was very accommodating, friendly and attentive. We ordered the XLB, short rib dan mien, dungeness crab fried rice and the 3 cup chicken dish which came with a side of rice. Since this place is a more modern and elevated approach to Chinese food I will say that the servings were smaller and more expensive then the Chinese food I am used to but I feel like it makes up for it with the service and the more careful approach they have to preparing the food. That said my favorite dish was the crab fried rice. It was delicious with many pieces of real crab in it. The dan mien was a little sweet for my taste and the XLB was good, tasted very much like crab since we got the pork and crab. Something that I would point out for improvement would be that the XLB was not really hot when it was served to us, but other than that I had a very good experience at this location. I would definitely come again!

The service was fast and good. The waiter gave us some additional time to go over the menu and returned promptly when we were ready to order. The food came out fast and was hot. Fried rice was not greasy. Restaurant was clean and no wait time. Definitely will come back and try the noodles.

My family and I went to this location on 12/26/2025 around 12:30PM.
The first part of our experience was good. The food was good. We were still eating but about to finish when my cousin took a sip of her water that was brought out to us once we first sat down. She spit out the sip of water because she felt something. She spit out about 3-4 pieces of something that looked like glass. My other cousin grabbed one of the pieces to examine it and was cut by it! 100% confirming that it was glass! We alerted someone immediately and they called over the manager. The manager at the time was Gaby. Gaby was apologetic and offered to call a medic to make sure my cousin was okay. After 15 minutes of waiting, she comes back and tells us that service is for employees only. She said that my cousin would have to go to the nearest urgent care and that Dan Modern would cover the cost. She said someone from corporate would reach out soon. It is now 12/29/2025 and we have not heard from corporate. We called this location for more information and Gaby just said they will reach out soon. I insisted that she make this a priority because my cousin swallowed glass at this establishment, but it seemed of minimal importance.
We were also not happy with the way this situation was handled because they didn’t clear out everyone’s drinks at the restaurant. Gaby said that a glass probably broke in the ice bucket and was scooped into the water. This means that there can be many pieces of glass in that bucket and everyone in the restaurant had a drink. They should’ve immediately taken back the drinks and offered fresh ones.
