Driven by this spot on the interstate more times than I can count. But this time we stopped. We were greeted by the owner/chef when we walked in and he said “I’m ready to cook for you”….and that he did! It was hard to decide what to order because it was a diverse menu with all kind of great options. We settled on the Voodoo Pasta, and the Redfish special. The were both incredible!! Can’t believe we have been riding by when that quality of food was sitting there all along.

Bottom line, this place is just a joint. But the food is amazing. I have been driving to Talladega for the last 30 years and have never seen this place and it’s right there next to the exit ramp on the interstate. Don’t let the outside appearance fool you. Come on in for a cold beer and fantastic food. I’ve eaten a lot of ribs in my life (Trust me), These are probably in the top three.

We’re still traveling a half hour frequently to eat here. Tonight we shared their Voodoo Pasta with white sauce that had just the right pepper heat. The plate can easily feed two, and is packed with proteins: chicken, shrimp, and (my passion) Conecuh sausage. Our server, Chicken, is the consummate pro and made us feel right at home. My five-star rating on everything stands unchanged. We have never had a bad meal here. Never even a so-so meal.

We come here at least once a week, driving a half hour for our favorite meals. Tonight we had a new peanut butter pie, as delicious as it was beautiful. It chased their amazing 1/2 pound burger, which is $5 on Thursday. We add an egg and bacon. Plenty to split between two of us. It’s all good here.

Damn Yankees is a favorite of ours! The food is wonderful. The portions are very generous and there is always a great variety of specials! Great atmosphere and they always speak when you walk in the door!! Last week Sarah served us. She was on it!! She even recognized our voices when we called in days later for a to go order. Chicken has served us for a long time and did so again this evening. She knows our favs and we never go without! Y’all go get ya some!! Some great folks!

We had a great experience at Damn Yankee as we passed through town. Our server, Chicken, was friendly attentive and hardworking, and she truly made us feel welcome. The food was very good. The menu had a nice range of options as did the drink menu. The atmosphere was lively, and comfortable. Wish we could have hung out longer and had a drink-next time.

I’ve lost track of how many times my wife and I have visited Damn Yankees since moving to Heflin a year ago. Every time we’ve been, the food and atmosphere have been great. The prices of food and alcohol are good, and they have a decent alcohol selection for a small bar in Heflin (GUINNESS ON TAP!!!).
Out of numerous visits, all have been great and we’ll keep going.
