Honestly, this was the best fried chicken I’ve had in a while. It was amazing. The texture was perfect ! crunchy and juicy. The beans that came with it were great too. This place deserves top rating, their fried chicken beats the giant brands by a mile. Staff was incredible, and I really loved my experience here. Definitely gonna stop by again for sure.

Visiting the area and read all the great reviews. This is by far ranks at the top of our best fried chicken, potato wedges and beans we have had. We have traveled in our RV all over the country. We ordered our food at the window. It was ready in about 10 minutes.

While spending some time in Custer, we stopped at Dakota Broasted for lunch before an afternoon of kayaking at Sylvan Lake.
We ordered at the window and had a great conversation with the gentleman taking our order. Even though it was brief, it was one of those interactions that really stood out, genuine and memorable. If he was the owner, it speaks volumes about how he approaches his business. It wasn’t just about serving food, it was about creating a friendly, personal experience.
During our chat, we learned that their chicken is never frozen and before we even sat down at one of the outdoor benches, we had a feeling the food was going to be fantastic.
It absolutely was. The broasted chicken and potato wedges were the best we’ve ever had. Thankfully, we had leftovers, which were just as good later that evening and even the next morning.
If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop by, you won’t be disappointed.
Also, be aware, the box of wedges is huge and easily enough to feed two to four people.
It may be years before I find myself back in Custer, but if Dakota Broasted is still there, I’ll definitely be back.

Woah. Some of the best chicken you’ll ever have. Amazing all around. The beans were also phenomenal. Coleslaw and potatoes were also stellar. You can either go through the drive through, or order at the front of the building. It’s a take out place. There are a couple picnic tables to eat if you want to eat outside there, but they pack the food in some “to go” containers that are easy to eat elsewhere.
They “prefer” cash type of place. Great prices though. Easy parking if doing counter service.
Just go, it may be the best food you eat while in the area.

Amazing boasted chicken and strips! Loved the wedges and baked beans also. They were a little spicy but had great flavor. We even had leftover chicken cold the next day for lunch and it was just as tasty. Will definitely be back.

Delightful little place in an unassuming spot. I had driven by them plenty of times but finally decided to try them out today and grabbed some food to take to my Mom’s place for lunch. I waited a couple minutes for the people ahead of me to order and observed the very small team offering up kind, folksy service and serving up orders with impressive speed. Very pleasant interactions and although I placed a fairly large order with no advance notice, they politely cautioned me it would take about 15 minutes. I agreed and sure enough, they had it all packed up nicely for me right on time!
As for the food itself? Man! It was a real treat and my Mom and fiance really enjoyed everything we got. Chicken, baked beans, potato wedges and some dinner rolls and all of it was delicious! The chicken was well seasoned with a great crisp, juicy and very tender. The baked beans and potato wedges were both just as good; very flavorful and clearly made with care. They’ve got some good recipes, for sure. Overall it made for an excellent lunch and I will absolutely stop by again sometime.

In town, found this place via Google. Had a bunch of great reviews. Not often places live up to the hype. But this place exceeded. If you’re vacationing here and have any appetite for chicken, stop here! You won’t regret it. Crispy deliciousness for the batter. But unlike other fried chicken options, the chicken is not dry. Definitely juicy as advertised. Also got the potato wedges. Forgot to ask for ketchup, but to our surprise they didn’t need any. Fantastic flavor and stood on their own. Also got the baked beans. They have a mild spiciness that brings out a classic food but with a unique flavor. I could go on and on. Place is easy to find just south of highway 16 on Centennial, but do need to keep an eye out as it is a small location. No dine-in but there are picnic tables if the weather is nice. If not there is a drive through. 12 piece was more than enough for a family of four. We probably could’ve even went with the 8 piece given the two sides. Regardless, very reasonable price for the amount of food. Service was excellent too.

My husband and I visit Custer 3 times a year and each time we’ve tried to get over to Dakota Broasted Chicken and today we finally made it. It’s the BEST chicken we’ve had in years, along with the delicious beans, slaw and potatoes. They’re closed tomorrow and we leave Monday but when we come back next year that will be our first stop!! Whatever you do, don’t pass this place up. You will be very sorry because they’re food is DELICIOUS.

Chicken was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy with a crispy breading. Beans are phenomenal, cole slaw had a bit too much celery seed for my taste, and spiced wedges aren’t really my thing (I should have skipped them). Staff was friendly, I would definitely come back for more chicken!

Wicked good fried chicken! Potatoes wedges were not crispy but everything was hot and very flavorful. Very good. Iconic. Outside there are 3 tables to sit on with umbrellas. I would maybe add one more and maybe a restroom or a hand washing station as you get dirty eating. They give you moist towellets though. These are minor things, I crave this across the state line. I wish they had more locations.
