We had Victor as our server, he was highly knowledgeable about the menu and didnt steer wrong on recommendations. This was a last minute decision to try this place for the first time. We ended up getting the grilled squid, a tuna special for the day, Super poke bowl (which was super fresh), salmon salad, and the Korean beef hand roll. All the food was delic, fresh and full of flavor. The price is definitely worth it for the portions also. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu, which there is alot to choose from.

Dawai Marrero fully deserves five stars. The welcome and service are professional and warm, and the cuisine shows real mastery of both texture and flavor. The tuna tataki salad is delicate — I would have liked the seasoning to be a bit bolder — but the house sauce brilliantly elevates the dish and leaves a lasting impression. The poke bowl is excellent and very well balanced, though slightly lacking in quantity for the truly hungry. On the other hand, the salmon sashimi is absolutely outstanding: perfectly sliced, impeccably fresh, and served in a generous portion — a pure moment of enjoyment.
The shrimp tempura roll with cream cheese plays nicely on contrasting textures; the only small drawback is a slightly excessive amount of cucumber, which tends to overpower the other ingredients. I did appreciate the boldness of the rolls — impressively large and visually striking — even if they are somewhat challenging to eat.
In short: inventive cuisine, high-quality ingredients, and attentive service. Highly recommended, and I will definitely be back to explore more of their creations.

I must say their fried rice is pretty good I also had the rock and roll sushi and it was pretty fresh We actually ate it two nights in a row. The rice does look bland when you first get it but add some soy sauce and it taste like you’re at hibachi. They are a bit pricey but I guess it’s because of all the fancy packaging and napkins. All together this meal was $18.18

The food was served very quickly and beautifully, with perfect quality and great taste. The space is spacious and even includes a karaoke room. The owner is very friendly and generous. It’s ideal for a family evening or a date night. Definitely worth coming back.

The restaurant isn’t very large but has a decent amount of tables and we’ve always been able to get a seat without making a reservation.
We had the popular Cowboy roll that has cooked meat, steak and crawfish, YUM.. and we had a roll that wasn’t on the menu called The Angel. When asking the waitress what her favorite was, she recommended it. The Black & Gold sake was delicious, it had a subtle taste and complimented the sushi well. Our waitress, Ana, was a doll. Absolute sweetheart.

I always have loved the food at Daiwa. I always recommend it to my friends who visit the westbank. But I’m getting frustrated by their process on how they seat their guests. Both of my last two visits had issues with long wait times even when there are multiple open tables. What happened on Saturday – I get there at 8 pm, it’s busy but there are three table tops open (2 four tops and 1 double) and only three people sitting at the sushi bar. My friend and I told the host we would be okay going to the sushi bar because they have open seats. She told us she could not sit us because other people with larger parties who came before us were waiting and they had to seat them first before letting us go to the open seats at the sushi bar!? I didn’t understand that because we were going to the bar and not one of the tables they needed to use for the large group… Didn’t make sense to me. We actually ran into two family members and decided to eat together so one four top. Still ended up waiting 30 minutes, which honestly isn’t terribly long, but the fact that there were open table tops while we just sat there was annoying (and they were still open when they sat us at a booth). Maybe their management needs to refocus on the Marrero location and not just Metarie.

It is one of the best sushi places on the westbank. Jackie is the best sushi chef and boss there is, and all the servers and waitresses are so pleasant and knowledgeable about everything. We really enjoy ourselves every time we go there. And the wagu steak is to die for so are the scallops.
