Normally call ahead for our orders. The staff has us pretty worked out. I love how they tell you lets work five days a week. Makes for a great environment to work knowing you have every weekend off. But the FOOD! As far as I am concerned there is only one Dairy Queen in Mineral Wells!!!!

Mineral Wells has 2 Dairy Queen locations. This is the one on North Oak! Hickey’s DQ! The food and service is amazing! Only negative is very small dining room, so if you go when they are busy, you might not find a place to sit. They always seem to be busy, but still get orders out quickly and correctly.

A seemingly common viewpoint on this restaurant…the food was great, but the owners attitude was horrible. My elderly neighbor who we cook for and sometimes clean for, wanted to take us out to eat to show his appreciation for what we do for him. As he told us, he is uncomfortable in social situations, so he jokes around with people to break the ice. While ordering, he made a few jokes with the cashier. Not offensive jokes, but like funny little quips. I guess one of the owners didn’t like how much time he was taking and went to the back to tell her brother, another owner, that she didn’t like it and he was taking too much time to order. He came out of the back very aggressively and told him to hurry up and get his order done and stop joking around. After our dinner, I asked to speak with him as I did not understand why they went aggressive with him so quickly. Me being a small business owner myself, I understand that you don’t get to pick your customers, you have to be polite to all of them and have some tolerance for people with different quirks. So I asked if they had had problems with him before or something and he said no. I was being super polite as it seemed they were a little hot headed. At that point more owners came out of the back and started talking down to me like I was some demanding Karen, and said that they are the owners and if they don’t like someone they can tell them to get out, and proceeded to say if I didn’t leave they were going to call the cops. I explained I was just trying to figure out if they had a problem with him before or what, because I didn’t understand the 0 to 100 aggressive attitude, now with me as well as him. Seeing how the owners acted towards me, the other employees started trying to pile on. Way to set that example for your employees! So sad to see them act like this, I love to support small businesses like my own, but I can guarantee I will never go there and support them again. I too have had to stick up for my employees being harassed unfairly, but this was not that kind of situation, It was truly uncalled for.

I’m never disappointed here. The food quality is amazing and consistent, and the owners and workers (mostly family) are top notch. I believe every time I have eaten there and start to leave, I’ve been asked if everything was good. It’s obvious they care about quality, it’s obvious they want you satisfied. I’ve been going to the “little DQ” or “North Oak DQ” for decades and they never fail to deliver first-rate food, service and friendliness. Dine in or carry out – the quality is still the same. Always great.

There’s two Dairy Queens in town but I like this one because it is locally owned instead of part of a corporate entity. You can definitely feel the difference in the quality of the food. There’s more love here and you can see it in the smiles of the people that work here. Local for the win!

If the owner treats his employees any way near how he treats customers then this place should be investigated.Absolutely appalling behavior by the owner and aggressive towards a woman for no reason. The food was cold and the guy was just absolutely rude and disgusting to a paying customer.
