What I am about to say is extremely unfortunate, and is backed by a sworn statement from a police officer.
I used to love Dairy Queen. The only other place in town to get cheese curds, to my knowledge, is Buffalo Wild Wings, and I preferred DQ’s to theirs. But I will never choose to eat at this establishment, or any other Dairy Queen ever again after what happened to me here.
On or around December 30, 2025, I went into this Dairy Queen after purchasing new tires at the Walmart located across the street. The ordeal was lengthy and tiring, so I wanted to get something to eat, but I had to use the bathroom first.
After I went into the bathroom, an older black male employee named forced the lock on the bathroom door open and accused me of ‘taking a bath’ in there. I have no need to take a bath in a Dairy Queen bathroom; I am not homeless nor on illegal drugs. I demanded an apology from the employee, and he refused. The manager apologized on his behalf, but I found the apology to be half-hearted and insufficient. I once again demanded an apology from the employee, and he refused, so I called the police.
The police officer decided that instead of arresting him, they would arrest me on a 3-year-old warrant for a misdemeanor failure to appear in court regarding an expired license plate tag. I had gone through a period of financial hardship and had paid for the tag a short time after it had expired, and was unaware that I had needed to go to court, nor, to my knowledge, had I received a notice of a warrant from the City Court. I had to bond out with the last $150 I had on me after spending over $400 in new tires, which were left in the back of my vehicle, which remained in the parking lot of this Dairy Queen.

The owner should really review the security footage at the Laurel location. I arrived around 10 PM, well before the posted closing time of 11 PM, only to find the doors already locked. I went through the drive-thru and was told by a young woman that they were out of hamburger meat and fries, but I could still order chicken tenders or a Blizzard. Meanwhile, the lights were off in the back, and a woman with red braids was sitting at a table, scrolling on her phone. Lady in the window have a tie-dye pull over

It’s nice to see employees that are friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food was good. But the employees made the difference. Nothing special just acted like they wanted to be there. Thank you.
Went back again and the same. Friendly staff, food was good. Nice to see the great service continued.

It isn’t very hard to make a #1 burger but apparently the Dairy Queen in Laurel, MS can’t do it. Not pleased AT ALL!

This is a great restaurant! We’ve returned time and time again. The owner, when we go on Sundays, is always there. He makes it a point to get to know his repeat customers and remember their names, coming out of the kitchen to check how your meal was and to make light conversation. I always thought that was really nice of him, as busy as he must be. The rest of his staff are always very friendly as well. His store is clean and always well stocked, I don’t believe we’ve ever been told “sorry we’re all out” I’m sure it does happen from time to time and maybe we’ve been lucky but my family has been coming here for years and it just simply has not happened to us. I think this speaks to the management’s dedication and attention to detail!. When a restaurant’s food and service is questionable, we simply do not return. That’s never been the case with Laurel’s Dairy Queen Grill & Chill. If it were in the future, our past experiences here would warrant notifying the manager, as we know he would rectify the situation. We have yet to find this necessary. Keep up the great work, guys!
