Stopped on in the way home from a road trip to the renaissance festival. Charlton’s service was impeccable. Prompt and friendly service, and he made sure we were taken care of. Food was good, too.

The staff was friendly when I stoped by for some blizzards. The food never disappoints because it’s actually fresh and not sitting under a warmer. The facility is always nice and cleans. If you can order ahead I would definitely do it. Also the restrooms are fairly small.

The service was okay. The food was NOT the bun’s came apart and was very flakey plus dry, you could tell the bun’s were old. I was disappointed they would serve the Burger’s like they did. The fries tasted weird like the grease needed to be changed.

This is an old school Dairy Queen… It reminded me so much of one that my Dad would take us to in Beaumont in the early ’70s… It is very well kept… The staff is not just a bunch of distracted teens… They were wiping the tables and policing the floors as soon as guests left… The food was terrific… I had a BeltBuster, jaliscos (breaded and fried jalapeno strips), and a chocolate mint milkshake… As much as anything, I liked the small town feel and the DQ was just a block off the square of the county seat… To top it off, it is near Christmas and they had a bible and Christmas tree prominently displayed!. Absolutely awesome

Never been to a Dairy Queen with so many “special” rules that make absolutely no sense… for example: “Can I buy a large cup of ice?” … “No! Our largest cup of ice is a medium.” … “What do you mean?” … “We can’t sell a large cup of ice.” … “Why? I don’t mind paying for it.” … “Oh, we only SELL ice, so you would have to pay for it either way, but the largest cup of ice we can sell is a medium.” … “Can I buy a large cup of ice water?” … “Yes” … “Then I would like to buy a large cup of ice water, extra ice, no water” … “We can’t do that.” … “Why?” … “Because that’s a large cup of ice and we can’t sell a large cup of ice.” … “Can I buy two medium cups of ice and ac empty large cup?” … “Yes Sir” … She rings it up and I pay, she hands be the two cups of ice and the large empty cup — I dunno the smaller cups into the big one Ava’s hand her back the empty cups … “Ohhhh! I guess you can sell a large cup of ice!” ..: “Don’t tell my manager!”

This is an obvious case of a manager with her head buried in the sand. Why would you not allow a customer who is wanting to purchase something that you have to sell, to do so? And to have her employees practically terrified to use their heads and assist customers.

There were several other basic requests that they couldn’t assist with because of special rules.

Oh, and they jerk the bathrooms locked. You must get a key at the counter. Virtually every other business that does this has a sign instructing customers to get the key from the counter. Not Dairy Queen. So when the three people in line for the men’s room had been standing there waiting for a few minutes without anyone exiting, I asked at the counter if the bathroom was out of order. She said, “No, yall need the key”. I said, so the last two waitresses who took food out to tables (this is a very small dining area, they clearly saw people waiting in line for the bathroom) didn’t think to tell the people in line that they needed a key?” She said, “No one asked” …. Why would someone ask, there is no sign indicating that a key is needed. Again, this is a tiny dining room, maybe 6 or 7 tables. The bathrooms are clearly in view of the entire staff and customers. Why they felt the need to kick them in the first place is hilarious. No one is going to be able to “sneak in” and use the bathroom without the staff seeing them. Another stupid rule that fails to place the needs of customers first.

So many Dairy Queen’s have closed in the past year. I say, reopen one of those and shut this mistake of a store down!!!

Do yourself a favor and skip this Dairy Queen. They leave the tables dirty and they are rude. The person bringing our food practically dropped it on our table and was terse and rude. The hotdog that I got DID NOT match the hot dog in the picture: the one in the picture is thick and longer than the bun. What I got was a tiny little wiener not much bigger than a straw and shorter than the bun. They don’t listen well to your order either. I asked for ketchup and mustard and we had a small conversation about it, with me saying that the mustard was the important part for me. Guess what they left off… the mustard. I am not surprised. So with the undersized hot dog and rude service, you might think they’d maybe make up for it by providing ranch for my son’s chicken strips but nope! They would not substitute the ranch for the country gravy so to get the ranch (a tiny little cup of it), they charged for it. Yes, I know these things cost money, but there is no reason they couldn’t provide ranch INSTEAD OF country gravy. The cost is about the same. But whatever. The positive we will take from this experience is that now we know never to visit this place again.
